Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
Either in print or online...
Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
No neither. But was a subscriber from the mid 80s to around 2000
Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
I'm the same, I used to subscribe but not now.
Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
Same here, stopped around 2004. Still got cupboards of my old Boxing News, can't bring myself to part with them.

Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
I used to buy the printed version every week (along with BM, KO, The Ring, Boxing Outlook) and had loads of boxes full of them all. They somehow disappeared and i've no idea where to.
I can remember the first BN I ever bought. It was for a read on an overnight train to London before a family holiday, had Holyfield on the cover and I think just after he'd beaten Qawi.

Yes, restarted during COVID. £10 a month and always delivered in time for the weekend.
Enjoy it more than the actual boxing at the moment tbh.

Long time print subscriber. Got seriously obsessed when Claude Abrahms was editor and have stayed the same since. Renew every year, and will continue to do so.
Although their digital is included, I never look at it.

Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
A good tip for anyone with a spare £9.99 a month, there’s an app called Readly, it has over 7000 different digital magazines and newspapers (plus back issues). Boxing News is included. No good if you prefer paper copies but if you are happy to read it on a iPad or similar it’s ideal. I used to subscribe but was trying to save money so cancelled but it’s very good and you can cancel anytime so you aren’t tied into a contract. Think it works out the same price as just subscribing to Boxing News

I've subscribed for years, it was owned by Kesley Media when I started my subscription. It's £9.99 a month. I thought with Tebbutt buying it it would no longer be via Kelsey but it appears it is https://shop.kelsey.co.uk/boxing-news-magazine

I get the printed version, nothing better than it being posted through your door on a Friday mate.

Buy it every week in our local newsagent. Subscribed for a while but got fed up with it turning up late.

Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
it is occasionally late. I rang up once as it did not arrive, the woman on the phone was lovely and they sent me another copy out as well as a few more which was random as I'd already received them.

Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
First issue I bought was “the parties over” Jim Watt just lost his world title Maybe 1981.
Walking into a newsagent, I was amazed to see there was an actual newspaper about boxing, having just got into it a few months before. I’d thought it was just US mags - BN advertised no where.
Then bought it religiously till about 2000, Sometimes travelling two hours to buy it the only shop that had it, a week late on a Friday, when living abroad.
I guess I stopped around then with the rise of the websites like Max boxing, and the quality dropped with the BN writers…I don’t think there’s anything like that anymore is there, maxboxing?

I used to read BN when I worked in a newsagents when I was 13 onwards, the owner was horrible so I used to steal it (amongst other things), loved that it was a proper newspaper format iirc. I remember reading about Steve Robinson in it, and Bobby Vanzie.

Oh yes , I had no idea it was still going doesn’t look patch on what it was though, when they had top writers like like Doug Fischer, Steve Kim, Tom gerbasi and the great Mike Katz on the books

The difference in those days was everyone was getting paid good money. Then, over night the financial plug was pulled.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑09 Feb 2024, 16:40Must have been excellent back in the day to have Fischer writing for them.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑09 Feb 2024, 16:13SeanBrennan wrote: ↑09 Feb 2024, 08:00

Re: Do you subscribe to Boxing News ?
Pretty much same for me. Then the change in editors, then another change with almost half of it about the AMs. Don't get me wrong, I liked to keep up with AMs but a huge chunk was then devoted to it and less on the pro stuff. Change of writers, change of format, just a few too many changes that kind of put me off it.
Then went to other online sites etc, keep up with the latest. Plus, loved the older paper style. Had hundreds of weekly editions, like a lot of us. Crazy ex binned them all, one day when I was out.
Bint got the boot, too.
