Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I used to like Fury and paid money to see him live on three occasions.
As soon as he failed two drug tests and slated gays and Jews, I was out.
I read somewhere he's bi-polar and I would hazard a guess that he has ADHD (all the best people do), but for me, it's a firm no.

Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I am indifferent, If I am honest.
Can't say I like or dislike him, either way. Some things he says and does are pretty daft. Then he seems a different person when he is in the company of people he likes or admires ie Iron Mike.
Mind you, being 6'7 and HW Champ kind of gives you a bit of an ego, I guess.

He’s a lying pikey from a family of criminal pond life. What’s not to dislike?
On top of that he’s a known drug cheat, bottled a rematch with Vlad, faked mental health issues and acts like a demented moron at any opportunity.
I would be asking why anybody who isn’t a gypsy likes the twat. Him and his old man are the sort of vermin decent folks would cross the road to avoid.

I'm not a fan of his. But is there any need for racism? My father is/was a gypsy, why the need to use the p word and bring his ethnicity into it? If he's a bellend he's a bellend on his own merits or lack thereof. You sir are pathetic.Monzon83 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 16:56 He’s a lying pikey from a family of criminal pond life. it was the antisemitism and homophobia that made me not like him.jwfg wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 16:13 I used to like Fury and paid money to see him live on three occasions.

- Drug cheat.
- Bigot.
- Boring cherry-picked fights 9 times out of 10.
- Constant lying for the sake of lying.
- His promo style and schtick got old real quick.
- John Fury.
- His personality just reeks of insecurity which he projects on others.
- His record is one big name followed by a few walkovers, fake retirement, some more walkovers and then a big fight.
- Possibly lying about mental health problems as an excuse to be a prick.
Every boxer has an ego, it's just how you let that ego portray you and how you act following your words.
For the record I didn't really have much of an issue with him before Klitschko. I even wanted him to beat Wilder and was relatively impressed by his comeback.

Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I don’t have a strong opinion of him either way. He’s a showman plus after watching his Netflix series he clearly has some sort of ADHD or autism type condition so I guess saying inappropriate things isn’t really a surprise. It must be hard having a camera in your face all the time as well, let’s face it no matter what any fighter does they will have their critics and haters so you can’t please everyone no matter how much you try. I think he’s well past caring what the public think of him and just wants as much money as possible. Can really blame him for that.
Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I don't like him for most of the reasons above, but the one thing that i dislike the most about him is the fact he has held back so many contenders by refusing to defend his WBC title. The division could be so much more exciting if he was willing to give deserving fighters a chance.joshj909 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 17:24 - Drug cheat.

Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I do have a deep admiration for Tyson from coming back from his dark place. I had the same journey myself and have struggled with depression for years, so I know what it is like. His comeback, losing ten stone and going on to become World Heavyweight Champion again is somewhat of a miracle in my eyes - or probably the closest thing to one that I will ever see...
But I do recognise that he can be childish and immature when asked probing questions - he just sees it as criticism and responds with bad temper and swearing. I look at AJ's record beating the likes of Parker, Pulev, Povetkin who were all legitimate top 10 guys when he beat them, when Tyson was feeding of Seferi, Pianeya and Schwarz... That is very telling.

Never forgiven him for ducking Price
Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
He could stop inviting him to press conferences etc. He's not his coach or anything like that. Other than the guys who's dad's are former pro's or are their coaches, I couldn't tell you a thing about any other boxer's old man. You can see where Tyson gets it from...SeanBrennan wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 18:15

That is also very annoying. Selfish and egotistical attitude thinking that he is the only thing that matters. The WBC certainly haven't helped the fans out there either.514126 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 17:40 I don't like him for most of the reasons above, but the one thing that i dislike the most about him is the fact he has held back so many contenders by refusing to defend his WBC title. The division could be so much more exciting if he was willing to give deserving fighters a chance.

Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
You need to be a bit of a selfish, egotistical prick to be a champ, you also need a bit of nastiness.

Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I'd rather have the fury era than the Klitchko era. Hes had some good wins and is obv very talented. Brought a lot of attention to the sport (not all good). I dont care about the outside the ring nonsense.

Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
I don't particularly like or dislike him - he hasn't done anything to me, he is just a boxer who has come to the end of his career and he is trying to milk a few last paydays which is quite sensible.
He has said some really stupid things in the past and comes across as a nasty bully at times but that documentary he was on At Home With the Furys explains a lot of his behaviours, he isn't well in a lot of ways and as I have said before, the worst is yet to come when he won't have a boxing career to focus on, the Tyson Fury story isn't going to have a happy ending but on that note, I wish him well and for him to find some kind of peace - he has achieved a lot of things in his life.

A year or two ago I was on a home visit in Ynyshir when a family member came in and said "that fat gypsy boxer" was in the local cafe. She couldn`t think of his name but was able to add that he was very tall and bald which helped narrow it down ... I nor anybody else made any effort to take a look.
He does generate interest as lots of the `Fury ..' type posts here show. But its all for negative reasons as the list above demonstrates, which in turn impacts negatively on the sport as a whole. Sooner he is out of boxing the better IMO.
I also agree with this quote too ..
the worst is yet to come when he won't have a boxing career to focus on, the Tyson Fury story isn't going to have a happy ending
Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
That is a ridiculous statement to make. I know and worked with a few travellers in my time, and like all cultures there is good and bad. You can't just generalise like that. I've never met the Fury's,I had already left the sport before they were really involved. But from what I have seen and watched,Tyson plays the game to suit him and sooner or later John is gonna have to walk the walk with all these people he is calling out. That is going to happen at some point and he only has himself to blame imo. I watched Shane on an interviews a few days ago and he comes across well. Speaks sense in my opinion and answered all questions asked of him. Based on what I have seen with him I would happily have a pint with him any time. Maybe John is on a wind up about fighting Mike Tyson and Carl Froch, only he knows that. All I'm saying is you can't just a make a judgement on an entire culture based on a minority.Monzon83 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 16:56 He’s a lying pikey from a family of criminal pond life. Good post. I also don't believe all his mental health bollocks. He probably just wanted some sessions and pu$$y and that whole mental health thing is a good excuse. Just my opinion, the guy has lied so much you can't believe anything out of his mouth.

The issue with this statement is they don’t want to be considered as ‘good’ people and go out of their way to prove this.Bercli wrote: ↑13 Feb 2024, 04:11That is a ridiculous statement to make. I live in a town that got invaded with travellers in the 90s, who at first were awarded a travelling site and then they moved to buying property to reside here.
I think they would be genuinely offended to be considered good upright citizens by the masses, it would indicate they somewhat toe the line, that they’re conformists, they’d f’in hate this notion.
Like many others, I warmed to Fury through the Wilder trilogy, and again like many others, his recent shenanigans have soured what was my altered view.
Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
What do you mean ‘he isn’t well’. He’s a moron. I’m getting a bit tired of people using illness or mental health to justify the behaviour of idiots. He seems very well on his yacht hanging out with drug dealing murderers in Dubai…Fray Bentos wrote: ↑12 Feb 2024, 22:54 I don't particularly like or dislike him - he hasn't done anything to me, he is just a boxer who has come to the end of his career and he is trying to milk a few last paydays which is quite sensible.

Him and his dad both seem very well when it comes to cashing the cheques their behaviour earns them. Don’t make excuses for them.
Re: Why Do You Like/Dislike Tyson Fury?
No like or dislike from me. Don’t know the guy.
I won’t comment on some of the more distasteful things he has said. We all know. Not a good look.
I’ve no idea the mental health is not a card being played to divert attention. It is obvious as others have commented, his stability in many media outlets (tv docs/interviews) appears compromised and I don’t wish that on anyone.
Boxing wise.
Apathy really. Bored of his continual “rabbit/sausage” nonsense. Hardly in the trash talk league of Ali or Conor McGregor. His current mooted opponent oozes class and is gaining in popularity for all the right reasons.
I have said before I don’t have him in my All time top 20. Thats not dislike.
Beats an old, past his best Wlad in an awful fight. Awful. Then found a way to not give a rematch.
On his arse v Cunningham (cruiser) and Ngannou (total novice)
3 fights against one trick pony Wilder (and Yes, what a trick). But a terrible terrible boxer who somehow won an Olympic bronze medal.
Walin slashed him to pieces and we saw how AJ dealt with him.
I just don’t get it.
That quote from The Usual Suspects come to mind in a way.
“The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled” etc etc
Well. The greatest trick that the Fury’s pulled was convincing themselves and some gullible fans that Tyson Fury is an all time great”.
He proves me wrong boxing wise. I’ll eat my crow happily.
