I just saw the first fight between the two:
2001-03-02 German Guartos D6 Mahyar Monshipour I

It was announced as points decision for Guartos after the fight.
Was decision reversed or corrected later? Just curious, since You guys have it as draw - and Monshipour stormed out of the ring after decision was announced.

I caught 58:58 and 58:57 cards, third was either 57:56 or 57:57 (Didn't hear exaclty).
Guartos was announced as winner as You can see in the pictures.

I think it would be useful to add a note in wiki page of the fight for the people who might see the fight in the future and - just like myself - wonder about why the result announced and boxrec page result differ.
I thought maybe someone knew exact circumstances of how it all developed.

I'm watching the rematch between the two and I noticed that French TV (Canal+) gave an undefeated 17-0 record for Guertos in the introductions:


Monshipour's record was given as 21-2-2, so here it's in agreement with boxrec.


I also found some Italian site which has a result of first Guartos fight as a win for the Spaniard:

Most likely You were right when You suggested that it was just announcer's mistake, but I'm curious about it. I should probably find some Monshipour fans who followed his career as it was unfolding and might remember it.

TV broadcasters listed it at 118 and commentators talked throughout the fight about Gonzalez's team making Vargas drop weight after initially coming in overweight. He first took his clothes off and then had to come back again to make weight, according to Al Bernstein and James "Smitty" Smith.
