he has really fast hands though tbf.........although his accuracy is........... averageKiwiRider wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 23:37 Joseph Parker should be called Average Joe.
What's his chin like?
About average.
What's his stamina like?
Average.
What's his power like?
Average.
And his boxing skills?
Pretty average.
So a combination of average makes a fairly handy heavyweight fighter these days. The change in trainer is paying off though. This version of Parker is best so far.

Parker has shown one of the best chins of the 2000's... hard to call it average.KiwiRider wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 23:37 Joseph Parker should be called Average Joe.

Probably better to say that he doesn't excel in any area.gregregegg wrote: ↑27 Feb 2024, 04:22Parker has shown one of the best chins of the 2000's... hard to call it average.KiwiRider wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 23:37 Joseph Parker should be called Average Joe.

If it goes under 6 rounds - Zhang wins
If it goes over 6 rounds - Parker wins.

What I ment was, he doesn't have any special powers. Just a combination of things that add up to the success he has had.gregregegg wrote: ↑27 Feb 2024, 04:22Parker has shown one of the best chins of the 2000's... hard to call it average.KiwiRider wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 23:37 Joseph Parker should be called Average Joe.

No one really raves about any one thing from him.
Also, Chisora and Whyte put him down and Joyce stopped him, that's why I rate his chin as average, its not the iron or the glass jaw, its an average jaw.

Parker has massive amounts or courage. Will go in with anyone. Very refreshing, but equally, I hope he doesn't have too many hard fights.
Incredibly likeable guy.

Presumably Parker’s form is all typical boxing smoke and mirrors. I’d take Zhang to beat him up over 6 or 7 rounds.

Parker didn’t have to be very good to beat a shot to bits Deontay Wilder.
Zhang would be a lot stronger opponent

I'm not sure we know Wilder is shot to bits, he's only been stopped by the WBC champion. One bad performance does not mean shot.

I agree. Wilder didn't look shot when blasting out Helenius inside a round.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑28 Feb 2024, 16:58 I'm not sure we know Wilder is shot to bits, he's only been stopped by the WBC champion. One bad performance does not mean shot.
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Zhilei Zhang | SKY PPV - 8 March 2024
A thing that Wilder is surely great at, and what nobody gives him credit for. Is being able to elevate anyone who beats him to being considered levels above what they were considered before they beat him ..

What is his power like from close proximity? They must have been fabulous sparring sessions to watch.Spud wrote: ↑29 Feb 2024, 14:28Sorry chaps disagree.big lennox wrote: ↑28 Feb 2024, 20:47I agree. Did you get to know Deontay or was standoffish? He seems quite talkative in interviews.
Why does Wilder appear shot to you? Is it his timing or speed? He has such an unusual style that it's hard to gage.

His speed and timing was excellent in sparring as it was in his fights. Prior to the Fury fights.
Alas I think Tyson has punched the fight out of Deontay.

I wonder if Wilder has punched the fight out of Fury a little, too. Their third fight was absolutely brutal. Too hard, for both of them.Spud wrote: ↑29 Feb 2024, 16:02He was a fantastic bloke. If Wilder is a spent force then I sincerely hope he retires rather than become a 'name' for people to have on their records.
I hope you write your memoirs someday. Would be a fascinating read: serving one's country and the boxing industry. I hope you are proud of your career and get it recorded for posterity.
