As I stated in the other thread...what is your proof...you need to post, or list some actually sources before anything is going to be changed!

Using the New York Times for a source he is at listed at 68 inches for the 2nd Walcott fight and the Moore bout. He is 67 inches for both Ezzard Charles fights.

Sorry, not enough to merit a change. If anything it just proves that measuring reach is not an exact science.

What you give are secondary sources, who undoubtedly have used the Ring Record Book's encyclopedia as their source (which reports 68). I used newspaper reports, which gave tale of the tapes, which came in all likelihood from actual weigh-ins, a better source. While the Ring Record Books are great sources, if they have an error, it is repeated ad nauseum by others who rely on it as a source. BoxRec errors are the same way in todays internet age, but luckily we don't have to go to the printing press to make a change, we just edit it.

As I have said, there is doubt in regards to whether it is 67 or 68. It may very well have been 67.5, for all we know.

Well, as from my experience, the smallest measurement for the older fighters are usually the nearest to be correct as inches are oftern added as decades pass...hell in 50 years...Rocky 6' Project will be claiming that Marciano was more close to being 6' 3'

As for 68" reach being across the net...accuracy and the net is about as reliable as a crack-head to spend money on food instead of crack. Try looking at some newspaper sources, or magazines from the late 40s and 50s...articles written on the internet in 2006 don't count!

Anyone with brains could pick up on the obvious facts that have been beat into you're head about what a "source" is...and as I have told you a few times now...if someone did go in and change the reach to 68" now I would go back in and change it back to 67". Now how about you get a life and chose a topic that you might actually be able to make some sense with because you are just wasting you're brain cells with this!

In my limited experience with Barry, I have found that he has an aversion to facts, statistics, and sources, other then those who agree with his pre conceived notions, or ones of his opn that he often speaks of, but seldom supplies.
Rather then address that with which he disagrees, he tends to regurgitate his same pointless drivel, and claim the he and only he has the ability to properly research a subject, even though this so called “research” is either non existent, or come in the form of some vague antidotal examples with no verifiable evidence, or he will simply claim that “most people” agree with him, even though these nameless supporters of his opinion, are no where to be seen.
I see in this case, Barry is running true to form.

What are there sources though? Repeating someone elses research, is not necessarily accurate. Personally, I think, based on what I mentioned above, the matter is in doubt.

Oh for Pete's sake !

Unless someone personally had the opportunity to take a tape measure and stick it under Rocky's armpit, ANY source is going to be “Repeating someone else’s research”

This is really an esoteric and unimportant issue, but the two threads, and the cement head quasi-elitist attitude from some on this, peaked my curiosity.

I have yet to find ANY source that DOESN’T say his reach was 68 inches !

What is that ? Some Illuminate like conspiracy to alter the stats????

>>>>Unless someone personally had the opportunity to take a tape measure and stick it under Rocky's armpit<<<<

LOL…That’s exactly what the proper kind of sources did.,.you know, well no you don’t know, but the sources from the late 40s and early 50s often did stick a tape measure under Rocky’s arm-pit, but then again…a good researcher would have known that!

>>>I have yet to find ANY source that DOESN’T say his reach was 68 inches !<<<

LOL…That’s simply because you will have a hard time finding any solid sources by just typing Marciano into an internet search engine…you’ll have to do some actual research and since you seem to have little clue as to what that is, then I’d suggest that you just keep quiet and leave the real research to the big boys, you know…to those of us who actually know how to research…LOL!!!

>>>In my limited experience with Barry, I have found that he has an aversion to facts, statistics, and sources, other then those who agree with his pre conceived notions, or ones of his opn that he often speaks of, but seldom supplies.<<<

And due to your limited experience with a good researcher, you know, learning the ropes of what is right and wrong, which is accepted and what isn’t, that is exactly why I am a long-time editor, while you are and always will remain…on the outside trying to look in…LOL!!!

Gonads, I mean cosands...if you had had any lengthy experience with me, instead of limited, then you would certainly know and understand what is proper research…you should really pay may more attention to people like me instead of following people like Rocky50, who still tries to claim that Marciano had another bout after Archie Moore…LOL…good choice of following…just try to keep yourself together when he breaks out the Jonestown cool-aide and DON’T DRINK THE MIX…LOL!!!!

What I have stated several times, though it seems to completely go over the head of people like cosand, is that articles written in 2006 are not sources...hell, most have no clue what they are even talking about and it's idiots like gonads, I mean cosands who think it's actual research...hence the reasoning and fact of why people like Tegen and myself will always have the power to make the proper and accurate changes in a database while clowns like gonads/cosands and his buddy Rocky50 will always be sucking hind teat in the intelligence department while regurgitating articles written in 2006.

Personally I go to sources from the late 40s and early 50s when researching Marciano, not something that has been stated over and over by the same people, which most of the time is done inaccurately, but that's what separates a good researcher from someone who has no clue...a good researcher will always present primary sources and do some actual research while the clueless, like cosands and Rocky50, post articles written within the past six months, which if the articles are even researched it’s done by someone else, and gonads and Rocky50 think that they are doing research...LOL!

Go back to English class and learn the basics of written a research paper and try to learn what is considered acceptable and what isn’t in terms of sources!!! Or, for a fee I will teach you how to do proper research…LOL!!!

Also, tell you what gonads…I mean cosands...how about you trying to become an editor and see how far you get…LOL?

Hell, you don't know anything about current boxing...much less historical boxing...one of my favorite statements that you have made is the following...which seems to sum up you're intelligence...

"We wont need to wait long to see it, Baldomir will beat PBF.
Carlos can cut off the ring, you cant hurt him and he never stops coming at you. Floyd has never faced anyone like that. the closest has been Castillo, who already beat him on my score card."

AHAAAHAAAHAAAHAAAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAHAAAHAAAHA!!!!!!!!

You have been a part of this forum for less than two months, yet you have already demonstrated that you are among the least knowledged...and that is a big group to head, but you gonads...pull it off with gusto...LOL!!!

That's about all I have to say to you gonads other than this...stop reading internet articles written in the past year, focus more on old newspapers, old magazines and old books from whatever era you may be interested in and if you want to debate with me then come back in about ten years when you have a little knowledge and substance to add...because right now a comparision of you and I is like this...you are a little league bench-warmer while I'm a Professional MVP All-Star Hall of Famer...LOL!

Here...for the record...follow the link...it will take you to a "Tale of the Tape" for Marciano-Charles...now a "Tale of the Tape" is measurements, including one that was done by someone who used a tape measure under Marciano's arm-pit that took place right before they're bout...the photo is what is called a primary source...an accurate source from the time...not one that was written 50 years later and as can be seen in the TOT photo...Marciano's reach is listed as 67"

As is always the case with me...actual fact always wins out over fantasy and lack of research!!!

Hell...even the Marciano tribute site lists him with 67" and being that cosand and Rocky50 are very high on writing of the past couple years as sources...this should be a summer-upper...

http://www.rockymarciano.net/about/stats2.htm

Which I see that the tribute site uses a source from 1953 to get the measurement...instead of an article written in 2006...LOL!!!

You got any other knowledge to throw our way there gonads...I mean cosands?

I have many historical pdf's a few cdroms and an USB memory stick from the 1950's which prove categorically that Rocky had a 67 inch reach.

>>> i asked u to give me your private email so i can send you historical pdf file to proove it, again you did not do it and i have no time wasting my time again and again and again on morons who do not want to listen, i did propose change how to do it both ways, but again you do not listen<<<

I told you that I wouldn't give you my e-mail address until you quit posting nonsense here on the forum...I have enough requests and e-mails that deal with actual facts about boxing and I sure as hell do not need any crap that I know to be a waste of time cluttering up my e-mail. Hell, you have proof in front of you as well as the word of a few actual well respected historians yet you continue to make up shit...now that you have an example of 67" to look at your story now goes to arthritis...LOL...arthritis does not shrink bones...it cripples them over time, but very, very rarely at 30 years old...and I don't recall ever reading about Marciano having any problems with arthiritis during, or after his career!

I don't need to see any pdf files...if you have pdf newspaper files then I'm pretty certain that I have access to all the sites where you can download pdf files, so post the titles of the sources, but as has been stated many times over...unless it is a primary source, or maybe a secondary source from the same time period then it's a waste of time unless it is for research that has not been covered, but Rocky Marciano has been researched time and again by some of the top historians in the world and there are no new bouts...there are no bouts that were missed...there is pretty much nothing about Marciano that can be said which has not already been said multiple times!

>>>I have many historical pdf's a few cdroms and an USB memory stick from the 1950's which prove categorically that Rocky had a 67 inch reach<<<

I have several as well and they state 67" also...and as I stated in the beginning Rocky50...in most instances whenever there is an inch, or two difference in measurements of a fighter...the smallest measurement is almost always the more accurate, but then again, I would not have to tell that to a serious historian, a serious historian has done enough research to know.
