01:58 Moorer is bleeding once again from that bad cut on his forehead. Again, the concern is how badly the blood obscures the fighter's vision and affects both his accuracy and his defense. 3:0
01:58 * Moorer seems to be having some difficulty seeing. It's not that he's bleeding all that badly but the location of the cut - over the eye - makes it a bit more serious. And talk about timing, the referee has stepped in and momentarily stopped the fight. He's looking at the cut above Michael Moorer's eye and is now leading him toward the ringside physician. 3:0
02:02 * Oh boy, the blood is just spurting out of a cut high on Michael Moorer's forehead. The two fighters clashed heads in Round 8 and that must have caused the gash. 01:01 * The referee appears to be jockeying for position; he's moving more than the fighters. Apparently, he wants to get a better look at the cut above Woods's eye. Now, he just steps in and stops the action. Viruet is escorting Woods over to the ringside doctor to get an opinion on the severity of the cut. 8:4
01:06 * That's a nasty looking cut. There doesn't seem to be any doubt that it was caused by the accidental head butt in Round 3. The referee has momentarily stopped the fight. They're going to have the ring side physician take a look at it. Woods is bleeding badly. The doctor's examining it...he's shaking his head. Woods is protesting...but that's it! Event#5 JHL vs Michael Moorer....Archie Moore vs RJJ...Ezzard Charles Vs Clinton Woods....Bivens Vs LaLonde
Re: Event#5 JHL vs Michael Moorer....Archie Moore vs RJJ...Ezzard Charles Vs Clinton Woods....Bivens Vs LaLonde
A few surprises on this card!
Moore loses another fight in the 10th round that he would have won. Tough loss as this fight was all but over and a cut does him in. RJJ has had an up and down start, so this is a huge win for him, regardless how he got it.
Bivens gets a draw vs LaLonde.
Charles goes to a decision with Woods. Granted a butt stopped the fight early, but figured he would have stopped Woods.
Moore loses another fight in the 10th round that he would have won. Tough loss as this fight was all but over and a cut does him in. RJJ has had an up and down start, so this is a huge win for him, regardless how he got it.

Sad to see a fight of that magnitude stopped on a cut, especially when the losing fighter was seemingly on his way to victory. Need to see a rematch between Moore & RJJ asap!

Jones should stay away from the rematch for a few weeks, IMO. He was getting dominated.

Woods figured that too so he was fighting dirty and throwing lots of butts.armageto wrote: ↑02 Mar 2024, 18:02 A few surprises on this card!

A win is a win, but I'm pretty frustrated at the scar tissue caused by this punk. I might have Fitzsimmons straighten him out later in the season, but for now the BrainTrust has bigger fish to fry.

Definitely got away with one there, Roy was in all sorts of trouble in R9 but managed to survive and the luck swung his way in the final three minutes. We will meet again, of course.
