My son works part time in boxing. The daft sod even gave up his full time job to enable him to work on more shows.

He has got a lot of experience working as a whip and event management. He has worked for :

Dennis Hobson
David Haye
WBSS
Wasserman Boxing
Misfits

I am gutted he has yet to secure full time job

I think I am correct in stating Tom Dallas got a job as a matchmaker thanks to boxrec … he has worked for Sauerland, WBSS and now matchroom

In a heartbeat, would be my dream job, that or working with animals.

I'd be happy to help out at shows voluntarily, just love the sport.

There is no chance though, perhaps if you're young and can start from bottom on little money. Good luck to anyone who does though.

that's great Spud. Tom Dallas is always listed as a matchmaker, he must be good/well regarded. Will he be self employed? What would he do week to week. I've seen Jon Pegg does some matchmaking, ditto Steve Lillis, and Lee Eaton mentioned he does matchmaking for Queensbury.

I have known Steve for 20+ years. I thought the world of Steve’s Dad.

If any fighter is looking for a manager or promoter if there is such a thing in boxing Steve is the most genuine person I worked for.

Dennis was fantastic to work for .. he allowed me to get on with things and make decisions.

I had a good friend who worked with my son doing the whipping whilst I got on with event management which was more or less anything on the day of the show. My son and pal are fantastic whips.

I will be totally honest the very best people to work for were the Sauerland brothers.

It sounds as if I,am being arrogant I am not and don’t mean to appear as such but I worked my nuts off and was damn good at what I did.

I am convinced my work ethic was an integral asset as to why I worked around the world.

I will make a confession, I am heartbroken the Parkinson’s won’t allow me to continue working in boxing. It’s been really hard to let go. But what I can hold onto is I had 24 fantastic years in the sport I love so much

It sounds like your son is racking up a lot of experience, which is great.

I remember seeing you at Boxing shows working like stink, making things happen. If your son has a similar work ethic he will go far, I am sure.

Really sorry that your Parkingsons is causing you so much bother, but pleased that you have such a long and rich period in boxing to look back and reflect on.

Interesting to hear you say that the Saurelands were the best to work for. They come across as being very grounded and approachable.
