Lots of surprise that Ngannou couldn’t hold a shot because he’s never been put down in MMA with 4oz gloves or from kicks to the jaw.

The difference is timing.

He probably has never been hit hard that cleanly.

Kicks will usually have more power though. Vlad never got KO in boxing on the other hand, but was KO'd in Kickboxing.

Then again, MMA is a mishmash of combat abilities and usually doesn't have the elite kickers or punchers.

I didn't get to watch it until this morning. That was a hell of a performance by Josh. Up until they both fought Ngannou, I've always been convinced that Fury would mop the floor with AJ, but not anymore. Joshua is going to knock the Luke the drug cheat out, it's just a shame Usyk will get to do it first.

He’s a novice. A more seasoned boxer would have avoided those right hands, particularly the last.

Joshua just did what Fury should have done.

The difference was that Fury wasn’t fit or match sharp. He couldn’t work at pace and his timing wasn’t there. It’s like he hadn’t sparred.

Maybe Fury is shot, maybe he just didn’t train, but Ngannou’s performance against him was flattering and should not have made him favourite in some pundits eyes to upset Joshua.

For the same reason, the hype train around this win by Joshua is just daft.

This isn’t me being bitter or anything - I picked him to win easy - but all he did was beat a fighter who is now 0-2.

This isn’t me being bitter or anything - I picked him to win easy - but all he did was beat a fighter who is now 0-2.

Ngannou really shown up for the novice that he is. Walking onto counters and having no idea he is doing it. Way too aggressive, especially early in a fight but he's got that mentality. Fair play to Joshua, I expected a more reserved fight from both but Ngannou forced it and left too many openings. I suppose after the close fight with Fury he didn't want to leave it to judges. He also fell for the Fury con and actually thought he himself was now an elite heavyweight. It's going to be so satisfying when Usyk schools Fury.

I don't think Fury would be able to flatten Ngannou like that, even if he was in shape and took the fight serious. He isn't a big one punch hitter and it took big shots to spark Ngannou. Same way Ali wasn't able to flatten Frazier in three fights but Foreman did in one fight. Obviously not comparing any of them to Ali, Frazier and Foreman but in terms of someone who is more a boxer and someone who is more a puncher.
