Potential Fight: Wilder vs Ngannou

Post by DrDuke »

Only one thing left for Ngannou in boxing. How do you see it, if it happens next?

Wilder KO 1.

I don't think anyone wants to see Ngannou facing another top HW.

That was brutal, and in retrospect, dangerous.

Does a double KO count as a draw?

Enough with Ngannou already.

There's so many good HW fights that the top guys can have and yet all they want to do is beat up on an ageing ex MMA fighter with practically zero boxing experience.

We all saw what happened when an accomplished and well prepared top 5 guy faced Ngannou.

The same thing will happen if he fights Wilder; he will get decapitated.

Ngannou has had his fun; lets get on with the business of boxing.

I don’t think Ngannou is good enough to avoid the Wilder right hand for 10 rounds. Which when it lands will flatten him.

I’d like to see it though. The more MMA fighters get destroyed the better it is for boxing because you have less chance of any more crossovers. Francis can take one for the team, he’ll earn another small fortune.

It’s not more dangerous than many of the no contests promoters put on regularly when trying to build up or protect their fighters. Look at Dubois nearly murdering some stiff Warren drags up from nowhere or Yarde’s tomato can ko’s.

There is zero interest in Ngannou boxing mid tier HW’s and no money in it for him.

Wilder is quite shabby. Anyway, Ngannou won't be able to avoid the right hand, if he doesn't land first. I lean more towards the Windmill.

Wilder has zero boxing skills and just one, telegraphed right. That is it. Nor does he have a particularly good chin.

Ngannou is a unit but just suffered a bad, brutal knockout.

For me, this is a toss up. Wilder is pretty s*** and Ngannou such a novice, it would be difficult to call. Best opponents for both are Fury and Parker for WIlder, lost both and KO'd. Fury and Joshua for Ngannou, lost both and KO'd.

I do still like this fight. Given 6 months off. Nganu is arguably as good at “boxing” as wilder…

But wilder is still a big favourite. Good fight though given wilder hasn’t looked good for a very long time.

If Ngannou is gonna continue boxing he needs to start facing the kinda competition than an 0-2 guy oughta be facing.

I really don't see why he wouldn't either return to MMA or just retire at this point.

Agreed.

I just don't see the point in him continuing in boxing, unless he is prepared to start from the bottom and work upwards.

Look at Big George Foreman, Olympic gold medalist and former world heavyweight champion returns to boxing after 10 years out, similar age to Ngannou and he didn't step straight back in against Mike Tyson, or the likes of Tony Tucker or Michael Spinks, who were the top guys around in '87, he started from the bottom and worked upwards and we all know what happened in the end.

If Ngannou carries on like this, he will end up as a punch bag for top 10 HWs to earn money from and that’s it.
