Ah yes.

Skill gap was huge. Big point though was that Ngannou believed he could take the power and has visibly shocked when he couldn't.

Can even happen to boxers. Most notably Joyce versus Zhang who turned into a shell of himself when he realized he couldnt.

Ngannou couldn’t take the power because he didn’t have the skills to avoid a specialised, heavy handed boxer who timed him walking on to shots.

He’s a novice. A more seasoned boxer would have avoided those right hands, particularly the last.

Joshua just did what Fury should have done.

The difference was that Fury wasn’t fit or match sharp. He couldn’t work at pace and his timing wasn’t there. It’s like he hadn’t sparred.

Maybe Fury is shot, maybe he just didn’t train, but Ngannou’s performance against him was flattering and should not have made him favourite in some pundits eyes to upset Joshua.

I don't think Fury would be able to flatten Ngannou like that, even if he was in shape and took the fight serious. He isn't a big one punch hitter and it took big shots to spark Ngannou. Same way Ali wasn't able to flatten Frazier in three fights but Foreman did in one fight. Obviously not comparing any of them to Ali, Frazier and Foreman but in terms of someone who is more a boxer and someone who is more a puncher.

Going on the Whyte fight, I disagree.

Even if he does carry less power, an on point Fury still could have found those shots and broke him down, albeit a bit later.

Nice job by Parker. Zhang wasn't able to do a lot, except of scoring a couple knockdowns.

Joshua prepared well after seeing how Fury underestimated Ngannou.

Zhang just couldnt pull the trigger enough.

He was shut down by Parkers feints. Every time Zhang set to launch, Parker either feined or moved his feet or upper body causing Zhang to have to reset.
Later in the fight Zhang was actually flinching from Parkers feints, even in the last minutes of the final round.
That had Andy Lee written all over it.

Yes, of course, however, also at zhangs age, grts harder to find the gaps, so was a very good strategy.

he wasnt coming forward most of the zhang fight , mainly it was parker moving around the ring, zhang following, them pawing at each other over and over. joe ocassional jab, jab right.

he was moving back and away very catiously most of the fight as zhang plodded forward. hardly a come forward win

Plenty of nice 1-2's and the occasional 1-2-3.

ya it's called boxing and moving bruh, not front foot fighting. joe averaged about 25 punches a round, zhang even fewer. lota posturing and posing.

Lots of surprise that Ngannou couldn’t hold a shot because he’s never been put down in MMA with 4oz gloves or from kicks to the jaw.

The difference is timing.

I actually don’t believe there’s a chin in the world that can take those 3 shots like that.

Maybe Oliver McCall it is? There's no way you can buzz him with that first punch.

Actually, if you posses a chin enough to level the first punch, you're not likely to be caught with the -more intense- second one like that. Then comes the third one.. It's sort of a chain reaction.
And no one with a quality chin if not granite, is expected to be concussed by that first punch IMHO. Lack of defence was the main issue ok. But Ngannou's chin played a significant role there.

I was rooting for AJ for the sake of boxing, but expecting at least a bit more of a tougness chinwise from Ngannou. At least as much as Andy Ruiz Jr.

Yeah very true that, the first one that clipped him was nothing like the two hellacious bombs landed in the second. Francis’s shocked face was something I won’t forget in awhile.
Still crazy that Ruiz had the same expression on his face when he got dropped by that bomb, and then when he got up, he got hit by an even harder punch, before amazingly turning the tables.

I love the fact all those MMA fans and commentators who thought their fighters had Godlike ability, got a huge reality check on Friday night. His cornermen too, couldn’t believe what they’d just seen.
