Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Neither of them fights weren't even close but in the last 12 months I've gotten kinda Intrigued by Joshua although his opposition hasn't been excactly world class (Helenius for me though is of course number 1) and now that we saw what he did to Ngannou that Fury couldn't do, I'm leaning towards AJ > Fury... Has he discovered any tools to fare better against Usyk? Don't really know about that, maybe not. This whole Ngannou shebang has messed the division up.
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Joshua can't win Usyk.
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Just because he won with Ngannou? C'mon...
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
If Joshua beats Hrgovic and someone like Kabayel, Usyk beats Fury x2 and then Parker, there's not much else left as a worthy title defence. Otherwise I think we'd all rather see AJ Vs Fury under any circumstances.
Joshua would need to turn up big and fight like a KO puncher rather than technical boxer if he wants to beat Usyk otherwise it will be the same fight once again.

No, but personally I don’t want to see it.

Don't want to see it.
Usyk is 37, with scheduled fight for the rest of the belts and a rematch clause.
After that, he might take on another one... But it would be a step down - what else is there to win?
I'd rather see him fight Hrgovic, but seeing him go out after beating Fury, even once (if it's clear) would be a great end to an unbelievable career.

No, but for me, after 2 fairly pedestrian fights, another fight between is not something I would, ideally, want to see. Could be just me, though.
Then again, not much out there, really. Hrgovic is pretty poor, Zhang, though dangerous, is getting older and slower, the others etc etc..

Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Not for me.
Joshua upped his game in the 2nd fight, was much more aggressive and had Usyk stunned in the 9th, but what happened next?
As we all know, Usyk came straight out in the 10th and put it on Joshua and nearly had him out.
Joshua wasn't the same in the fight after that.
Unless Usyk grows old, Joshua can't beat him and who really wants to see a faded Usyk?

Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
That would definitely be more pointless than Joshua - Fury 1.
Although, we're getting to a point where a lot of combinations of match-ups are getting spoiled. Wilder has now lost credibility as a top 4 opponent for Joshua or Usyk. Joe Joyce has been knocked out of the top tier. Dillian Whyte has been inactive and hasn't had a good showing since 2021 (about to fight Christian Hammer next week, btw). Andy Ruiz is good, but sadly inactive for 18 months, and has already fought Joshua twice and Parker once. Parker's on the rise, but already has a history of numerous losses, including a wide loss to Joshua. Ngannou looked like a plausible world class fighter, but just got crushed as badly as Wilder - Breazeale or Joshua - Martin. Fury's stock is the lowest that it's been in about 9 years.
Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel are the new top contenders of the division, and it's a weird time.

I'd rather see Joshua vs Wilder or Joshua vs Fury twice before seeing Joshua vs Usyk a 3rd time.
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Only in a world where these guys fought ten times more often than they do. Otherwise it's just taking away time from new matchups.

I'd try ketamin instead ...similar effects
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
I don't think it is weird to want to see the current two best hw boxers in the ring together
Lots of other good matchups to be made tho. I would like to see Parker AJ 2 with competent ref this time. Parker Usyk would not be bad either. Then there are AJ vs Fury and Wilder.
Lots of good matches to ne made with Chang Hrgovic Ruiz or Joyce too. Against the top names.
The pairs are out there now we would need to make the fights happen.

Forget it, Usyk has his number. Don't let the last fights of Joshua fool you.

I think that people are underestimating Joshua a little, the 2nd fight was competitive, Usyk always had the upper hand, and would definitely be favourite in a rematch, but Joshua has looked more like his old aggressive self under Davidson.

Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
he looked better in the rematch too, still lost. too many fresh fights out there for this to happen a third time when the same guy won the first two
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
if it happens then I will watch & enjoy it for sure .
but really its Usyk V Fury and AJ V Fury that most boxing fans want more than anything else .

Only if you bet Joshua to win.
Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Yes. Usyk got his number. Joshua recently said he wants to fight another 2 years which is realistic. He should fight Fury & Wilder and retire with his money.

Re: Am I completely insane if I want to see Joshua vs Usyk III?
Anthony Joshua v anyone is still a marketable fight.
Even Deontay Wilder's return will generate plenty of interest.
HWs who can punch and deliver explosive action never go out of fashion. Mike Tyson could fight til he's 80 and still some people would watch.
The only thing that stops them for good is the knowledge that they just can't do it anymore, and this often takes 3 or 4 fights too many for comfort.
AJ v Usyk will definitely be back on the cards once he defeats Dubois in their return next February.
Joshua is our modern day Icarus, every now and then he gets a little overconfident and crashes to earth, but then unlike Icarus, he manages to reinvent himself and like the Phoenix, he rises back better than ever.
He's certainly not finished yet, it's a question of just how badly he wants to regain all the belts.
As for the question of trainer, he might well stick with Davison, even after his highly publicised shambles of a performance in the corner.
Dubois can only fight one way, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get the preparation right this time.
Not unless Davison actually believes the bullshit about how they weren't surprised by the way Daniel Dubois started last Saturday night.
In that case, if that is true, he should hand in his resignation immediately.

Usky should focus on an end game. Fighting Parker will add something to his resume, And maybe Hrgovic if he wins is next fight.
His broom is on display in thie heavy weight divison.

I would rather see Fury vs Dubois.
