Charlie Edwards will launch his bid to become a two-weight world champion when he headlines a Wasserman Boxing event at York Hall on Friday April 12, live and free on Channel 5.

And on the same crunch night of action, Lerrone Richards looks to accelerate his pursuit of second world super middleweight title, when he fights in the co-main event.

Edwards, the former world flyweight king, is now targeting bantamweight gold and takes on former European champion Georges Ory for the WBC Silver International title over 10 rounds.

Richards, meanwhile, is laser-focused on reclaiming the super middle crown and knows he must get past the tough Steed Woodall over 10 rounds, to keep his dream alive, with the WBO Intercontinental Super Middleweight title up for grabs.

Wasserman Boxing, in association with Ladbrokes, Numan and Infinitum, returns to the spiritual home of British boxing with Don’t Call It A Comeback, its second blockbuster show of 2024, as two of Britain’s former world champions set out on the road back to the top.

• Jordan Dujon and Kingsley Egbunike collide for the vacant Southern Area Super Welterweight title.

• One of British boxing’s brightest prospects Tom Welland, fresh from a thumping stoppage win in Telford, has a fourth contest of his pro career.

• The Mikkel Kessler-trained Oliver Zaren boxes in front of a UK audience for the fourth time in a row, in an eight-round contest.

• The exciting Jesse Brandon returns for a first outing of 2024.

Good to see Edwards back in action, it'll be interesting to see what he looks like as he hasn't had a competitive fight for about 3 and a half years.

Can't say I have much interest in Lerrone Richards, but Jordan Dujon vs Kingsley Egbunike will be a banger on the undercard.

One minute he's world champion, the next he's had three fights in 4 1/2 years.

Charlie was a bit annoyed that Eddie signed JC Martinez after he ‘beat’ Edwards (and later ruled a NC).

I think he then signed with Frank and nothing happened.

Lerrone really screwed himself. He was offered a slot as I think co-main for a Canelo show (I think it was Canelo/GGG 3) yet turned it down because he thought he was ahead of his opponent.

In the near 2 years since he’s fought 2 journeymen I think.

He was with Matchroom for 3 fights. A quick 8 rounder, won the European title and then won the IBO belt against Gongora in Manchester. Those 3 fights came in just over a year and he’s someone that will never have a style that’s mass appeal.

Sometimes guys just think the grass is greener and they know best without actually being honest with themselves.

I'd argue Charlie Edwards isn't world class, but a good boxer and a damn sight better to watch than his tedious brother Sunny.

I hope Charlie performs well in front a live Channel 5 audience.

What can you say about Lerrone Richards that hasn't already been said...in terms of how he's handled his career the guy is a pratt !

Nice skills, but dull as dishwater & painful viewing. Despite his achievements and unbeaten record, there are more deserving boxers who should get Channel 5 exposure.

Looking through Orys record just realized he's the guy Wale supposedly got robbed for the European a few years ago

ed vs ory is a pretty good matchup competively, though could end up boring if one gets on top since very little power betwewn them

woodall has beaten bori crighton and gave paddy mccory a tough fight, but richards will prob do his usual 100-90 type job.

egbunike vs dujon, despite being a much lower level, looks very well matched. could outshine the above two. same with zaren - harding.

i should watch ory-wale tbh but cant find it online. seemed a few ppl really invested in the fight called it a robbery, despite missing multiple rounds, and then ppl just echod that. there were problems wth the stream on the night and very few saw the complete fight live

prob was a generous decision with scores that clsoe in france, but you never know, ppl have cried robbery before on legit wins

obviously some french fighters who can punch just fine (soro and sadjo and mbili can hit plenty for example), but it does really seem to be a thing among french fighters , these low stoppage records. usually guys witth records like this in the uk are further down the rankngs

Re Edwards, good boxer, he does not come across as too likeable imo though. I think it would help his career if he was a bit....nicer.

Unfortunately, neither of the Edward brothers comes across as very likeable.
