Thomas Hearns @ Cruiserweight
Thomas Hearns @ Cruiserweight
After the second Barkley loss, Hearns didn't make 175 again. Was there ever any talk about him fighting for any of the four major belts?

He was lined up for anaclet wamba for a while but it never happened. At the time wamba was wbc holder he beat a few guys in nabf title fights on some vegas unxercards. He would later fight and beat miller who was only a fights removed from losing his wba cruiser title (saw that from ringside)

my memory is hazy, I also thought WBU was a proper belt as a kid too so I'm definitely not a reliable source on this.jwfg wrote: ↑28 Feb 2024, 09:18It was more like the WBU IMO.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑28 Feb 2024, 06:12do you not think at the time the IBO which he won wasn't far behind WBO?

Hearns at cruiserweight, in say 1987/88 would have been good.

That would've been too soon for Tommy. He was still at 160 in the 1987-1988 time-frame.nobleart1978 wrote: ↑10 Mar 2024, 14:25 Hearns at cruiserweight, in say 1987/88 would have been good.
He had one of them "Slowly but Steadily Bulking Up", type of Physical Bodies.
By 1991, he had become properly well adjusted to 175(The "Virgil Hill" Bout & Victory).
The rematch in 1992 versus Barkley was at 175. Hearns did well in that bout, however, Barkley(Because of the Style Correlations and Contrasts) just simply always had his number.
