HOME OF THE IBO Rankings and other info
Steve Shuffleshits is now in charge of the IBO. He's going to try and keep things as fair as possible to ensure the best possible candidates get a shot at the IBO strap. The IBO belt was usually a belt in seasons past that was meant for guys outside the top 10. Shuffleshits is going to try his best to keep it that way, and adding some fun to the mix as well.
1. The IBO belt can't be held by a fighter inside the current top 10 system rankings. If a fighter has the IBO belt and manages to get inside the top 12, he can make up to two defenses of the belt, then has to relinquish the title.
2. The IBO belt mando's will be random. Could happen once every 4 or 5 weeks, might happen every other week. If we see a fighter who looks worthy of fighting for the IBO belt, we will make said fight at any time. Accept or relinquish the belt. Also the possibility some weeks for a poll to find your opponent.
3. At times, if it's not too much work for Buzz, perhaps a champ might over-train in preparation for a big fight. Maybe your opponent comes in under trained. In majority of cases, a fighter will be at their best, but be forewarned, anything can happen leading up to a fight, just like real life.
4. The IBO belt must be defended weekly against a fighter inside the top 12, unless otherwise noted. There are a lot of good fighters this season not managed, so if you wish to make a fight, just let Shuffleshits know for approval. If an IBO champ gains a major title, the IBO belt will then be relinquished. The following week it will be up for grabs among two fighters currently ranked within the top 12 rankings.
5. In the event of a draw in an IBO title fight, an immediate rematch will be called upon. In this case, we will make sure there is a winner, with a grueling number of rounds set. There can only be one!
6. I'll pin this to the top for reference, changing the top 12 as needed, on a weekly basis. If a CPU was to win the title, Shuffleshits would manage his opponent. Be on the lookout for some press releases from Shuffleshits!
IBO week 24 new champion!

Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
Congrats to IBO champ Bob Foster on this big run as champion!
Shuffleshits is going to have a hard time deciding who was the IBO champ of the season. A few great names have held the belt and done good work after capturing the IBO Belt!

Langford Accepts
Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
You know it's funny? Somebody said that Billy Conn should be no 1, top of the rankings, because he always gives the crowd entertaining fights. Now I for one think that is going much too far, so we will agree to be outside the top ten, to give others a fair shake.
As for John Henry, being one of the great gents that he is (and always letting everyone on the bus before he steps on) he agrees to be ranked dead last. Just as an exigent to prevent hurt feelings for someone else who is bottom of the pile.

Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
Performance points are a strange algorhythm aint they? It blends many of the tracked info such as offense, defense, winning percentage, punches landed, punches thrown, punches avoided, and the rating of opponents and tosses them into a blender and somehow spits out points. It's easy to be critical of it, but it's fascinating nevertheless.
Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
Getto, purely curious......when you are rating IBO fighters, what is your conceptual guiding set of principles? I'm actually entertained by any way you want to cut the cake. We have not offered any financial incentives to your organization...and we are not rated. We will gladly write a check if that is what is required to get a rating.
I represent the two very best fighters who have commanded respect and attention from all points on the pugilistic map....by rights Maxie and Jimmy should be rated as current champion, and Champion Emeritus. And yet....zilch nada, no show.
I am happy to pay all extortion...uh er...I mean sanctioning fees to get at least two of these "others" off the list, and have my stable of superlative, superior, and sensational warriors slated.
What does one need to do to get proper cred?

Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
Basically Steve Shuffleshits feels that the IBO rankings should be used as a catapult to get into the top 10 fighter list. Thus we don't have any top 10 fighters from the regular rankings listed in our current top 10. Think of it in the sense if you have a belt in the regular ABC's, you aren't listed in another org's rankings. So it's like that, but just for anyone in the current top 10.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑13 Mar 2024, 12:16 Getto, purely curious......when you are rating IBO fighters, what is your conceptual guiding set of principles? With all my free time these days, I have plenty of time to read most of the fight write ups that happen. I take into account the regular rankings standings, who they fought already, and how that fight went. Was it a major upset victory for them? Have they just been bottom scrapping unmanaged fighters? Was it a controversial decision they should have lost? I also take into account some unmanaged guys that might have had less fights, but have done well during their time to shine.
No real exact science to it, but offers up some guys outside of the top 10 a chance to grab a belt and enhance their profile. Also, would it be an issue to change the conditioning on certain fights, if Shuffleshits calls for it? Won't happen every fight, just now and then to spice things up and keep it interesting. I'd let you know on it, if it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to do.
Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
Our first IBO title fight is set!
On a side note, the second post in this page will be an update for the current week. If there is a Mando that week, or coming up, any special fight alterations, and other stuff. I'll just exit that second post weekly, as with the rankings on the first post.

Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
Great, If I can find another 3 fights, (I don't run less than four at a time if I can help it) I'll get to this straightaway. Thanks for the mission statement....it'll help me when I want to whine.
Hmmm....In the first ratings update I only published points on managed fighters....and since we have 20 managed fighters it was a no brainer. However I'll put out 30 next time. Now some pool fighters would show up in the top 20 if I chose to include them But for our purposes I will always RANK the managed fighters. And they will always be the top 20. However I will include the top 10 pool fighters in the future. They will populate the bubbling under field in order of their points.
......by the way Maura Mina is an unmanaged fighter with an insanely high rating.....I suggest no one call him out. I'm just sayin.....

Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
By the way, the FIRST IBO championship will be 12 rounds. That's an assumption, and you can change it for the future if you wish.
Re: IBO Week 8 Rankings and other info
12 rounds it is! Occasionally, or by champ demand, we can pump it up to 15 rounds.
Can we have an old school death match of 30 rounds option?...

Congrats to the IBO inaugural champion
Archie Moore!!

30 rounder? Hot daum.
Maybe a less strenuous, more contemporary 20 rounder, Geto?![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Hey Armageto....I'm color blind...and the green over greenish fonts...make it nearly invisible for me to read. Now if you like that idea, I won't ask you to change a thing. However....if you think I need to be aprised, you'll need to change the color options. (I think it's green on green...lol) example.....ARCHIE MOORE IS THE INAUGURAL IBO CHAMPION, CONGRATS!! That's just about invisible to me....

You old bastard...
I'll change some of the colors around when I get to my laptop.

Week 10 ratings and fighter stipulations for the champion updated for week 10!
Re: HOME OF THE IBO Rankings and other info
Moore is now in the top ten...and will be given the hook soon I suppose?
He might get an extra defense or so, being the inaugural champion. On most occasions, defending the belt two times, being in the top 10, will have the belt vacated and the Shuffleshits will then decide on the two boxers to fight for the strap.

lol....did you hit the edit instead of the quotes? I've done that.....either that or I answered my own question....
Re: HOME OF THE IBO Rankings and other info
Guessing with Tunney's inconsistencies, he should / could be in with a shot.
Failing that, he will plough on and try and actually fight to his potential.

Re: HOME OF THE IBO Rankings and other info
I'd imagine next week there is a good shot he is outside the top 10. First we have to see what transpires with Moore and the IBO strap, which might be vacant heading into week 11.
Re: HOME OF THE IBO Rankings and other info
I believe your Langford vs Conn IBO championship fight was fought at 10 rounds. I simply did not recognize this as IBO sanctioned. I hope we don't have to slate all fights at ten rounds next week to make up for my lowful todying!
Re: HOME OF THE IBO Rankings and other info
There is an old and odd Australian championship rule. I am not sure if it is still like this but previously, if the Australian champion fought in a non-Australian title fight (ie engaged in a 6-10 round fight) at the weight he was champion, his opponent would become Australian champ if he won by KO, regardless of the fight not being for the title.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 18:49I believe your Langford vs Conn IBO championship fight was fought at 10 rounds. Being that Aussie Sam won by a first round KO, does it matter if the fight was scheduled for 10 or 12 rounds?
