While I disagree on Ali (who I am by no means a fan of). You are so right about Fullmer. Thought I'd also mention the Basilio fights where Fullmer boxed mainly in reverse all night picking Carmen apart. Amazing fights, by two very proud warriors. Fullmer fought in an odd cross arm defense (with his right hand below this left unlike most cross arm defenses). It worked great. I never had the pleasure of watching his brother Don. Wondering if his style was similar in any manner?

Gene's skilled use of elbows, laces, shoulders and headbutts should also be mentioned.

I have the Fullmer-v-Robinson fight and I couldn't agree with you more.

The idiot commentator(they hardly EVER know anything) kept commentating on how Gene's battle-plan was "simple", that he just flared in with two fists.

The reason for this misconception(by so-called "experts") is because Gene LOOKED like a slugger. He had a flat-nose and rough composure and a round hard head.

Speaking of his hard head, maybe he used it, maybe not. He denied it, "I fought crude and maybe it looked dirty, but I never fought dirty".

But he admitted rabbit-punching Robinson repeatedly. I forget his EXACT words, but it was something like this, "If he wanted to put his head down so the only place I could hit him was the back of the head, I really didn't mind".

Eduardo Lausse almost murdered Fullmer. He actually floored Fullmer twice in that fight, but the ref screwed up and called both slips/pushes.

Just thought I'd throw that into the mix. :D

I don't know much about Fullmer, so I suppose your right Hawk.

As for that (quite disgusting ) picture :D of Klitchko. I don't think punches could have done that. Maybe not a headbutt either.

Maybe what happened was a few headbutts or elbows than punches opened the cut.

Either way, it's quite horrible.

What the Hell do you mean irrelevant? The topic is about Gene Fullmer isn't it? Cuban just threw in a comment about a difficult fight he had.

Dave, terap always sees what he likes to see.

Just look at the post in this very forum, "Is Muhammed Ali Overrated".

He's backed down from the argument now though. To the last comment he'll probably reply stupidly, saying "well, actually I couldn't be bothered".

And get this:
HE THINKS HE'S A PRO BOXER!!!!!

Eduardo "KO" Lausse never got a title shot in spite of beating Tiger Jones (where he sustained severe cuts), Kid Gavilan, and Fullmer in less than six months in 1955.
I've never seen one of his fights but people that saw him only have the best to say about him as a southpaw with demolishing knockout power.

This is a picture of his KO of Antonio Cuevas. Check out Cuevas's mouthpiece flying as he gets flattened by Lausse.

Lausse was fast, strong, tough, and skillful, and had a killer left hook (any time I saw him fight it was in a right-handed stance, but I suppose he could've been a converted southpaw). He also had a great and very tricky defense. After all those wins, he lost a very close split decision to Bobby Boyd in Boyd's hometown of Chicago, and I suppose that checked his rise to the top. After that, he returned to Argentina and seemed to fade away.

His only "weakness", if he had one, was that he tended to throw his punches kind of wide and rely a little too much on his left hook. He did have a good jab and right though, when he used them. He'd flatten any middleweight today except maybe Hopkins, and who knows... maybe he'd execute the Executioner too. Certainly, Hopkins has never beaten a middleweight as good as Lausse (and that includes Tito).

Having said all that, I'd like to point out that a certain little fellow named Kid Gavilan beat Lausse down in Lausse's home country of Argentina. :D When they fought again, Gavy was well past his prime. If anyone has any details about their two fights, please let me know.

Terap is not the only troll on this forum.

Steve689 sent me totally ignorant and stupid messages and Broncano has sided with terap despite him obvious being wrong.

Trolls really need to stop looking for attention.

Terap may reply to his backing down to the argument(he knows that I know what he is) something like this, "Well, I couldn't be bothered actually".

Broncano, steve689 and any other trolls may pathetically attempt to say, "It's obvious you are the troll".

I shouldn't have been so NAIVE coming into this forum. I should have known EVERY forum is flooded with trolls.
I just didn't realise they could have so much authority.

Wow, this is getting rediculous. I think it's time for Tantum's words of wisdom.

SugarRoy... You need to grow the fornicate up, and stop trying to argue with everyone on the forum. You seem to know atleast a decent amount about boxing, but alot of your ideas are far fetched, and yet you try to push them on people like there's no other possibility.

I don't hate anyone here, but you want to be hated it seems. Not by me, but by everyone. I actually find some of your posts interesting, and I'd really wish you'd stop trying to gain attention, and start posting legitimately.

And for the rest of you guys trying to pour gas on his fire, you people need to shut the fornicate up too... cause half of you are just as bad as he is sometimes. And I don't want to sound like a jerk, but it's just impossible to get some serious conversations going when you got a bunch of people running around like jackasses trying to make arguements the main objective of the forum.

I hope my words have helped.

Broncano, seriously go away and troll.

Tantum, I realize you want to keep the peace, but I DON'T start these arguments. Go back and study them to see.

Backing down from these people is being bullied, and they're trying out they're authority. Am I suppose to let these guys do that?

I am not trying to argue with people, in fact I always try and settle down the posts and hopefully keep friends with these nice people. But sometimes I simply have to retaliate.

It's just not fair for a person to bully people around without even backing up. That's called pushing around, bullying.

Steve689, Broncano, Terap YOU all need to "grow the fornicate up" and respect other's opinions.

"A Conspiracy of Trolls" coming to you this summer to your local Barnes & Noble from the man who shook the world proclaiming that Monzon would beat Lennox Lewis.

In less than a week this postmodern hero has managed to get at the following forum users throats in one way or another:

1. Terap
2. Steve689
3. Dutch Windmill
4. Tomato Can
5. Tantum
6. Riddick Blowe
7. Zurdo

And that's just the from the threads I've seen.
It is just no coincidence that those happen to be the people who have disagreed with him at a certain point.

There are only two things that can save the feeble minded in a forum.
One is to be so witty and cruel that people can actually enjoy your posts. The other one is to exploit your inherent aptitude to be pathetic and obnoxious (although sooner or later you'll perish). But even that takes talent...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry Tantum, I had typed this post before your nice F*****g word of wisdom, and really meant not to put it up when I saw of your noble intentions. But you saw what happened, It is a lost cause.

LoL, it's alright.

I really wish you'd all stop fighting, but if that's what you want, just start a thread entitled as such. In fact, I'll make one for you.

Just made it, It's in the current scene, enjoy.

Sorry Tantum, I won't be looking at that thread.

Tantum, your post, "just ignore them" was absolutely right actually. It's given me an entirely different outlook.
From now on, whenever there is a stupid, ridiculous, inaccurate etc. post like the last one I'm no longer going to bother explaining like I always do how every single bit of it is unbelievably unfair, stupid and incorrect. Yes, EVERY SINGLE BIT.

From now on, I don't think your replying with dumb replies is going to do anything, in fact go ahead and do it.

THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL WITH TROLLS IS TO LIMIT THEIR INTAKE OF WHAT THEY LOVE, ATTENTION.

In other words, all further posts by long-serving trolls and bullies like Broncano, Steve689 and Terap will be ignored. As soon as I see the name I'm not reading it.

TO THESE PEOPLE:
Do the world a favour and not bother. DON'T SAY ANYTHING, JUST STOP LOOKING FOR ATTENTION. I'm sick of this.

Invaluable advice Tantum.

Tantum is not a moderator, he doesn't have the power to trash or lock a thread. Look in a different direction.
