Blimey Stu, that's some going, I think I found this place because of a boxing sim I used to play, it might even have been Carlos who told me about boxrec, I'm not sure, so long ago now.stujones wrote: ↑15 Mar 2024, 11:58Think the forum has been about perhaps a couple more years more than that. Steve689 was around before the “east side” invasion. I think it was 1999 I first posted on boxingranks and pretty sure boxrec forum started not long after that

Re: Welcome Back!!!
I started with the Seconds Out forum, then one day it went, and never returned.
Wonder why?
Wonder why?
Re: Welcome Back!!!
The same
It’s always befuddled me
Allegedly was upset by a few things but I’m sure something else helped the demise.
Missed that forum for a long time.
Must 20 years ago or near enough.
Sad.

Re: Welcome Back!!!
I remember being blamed for secondsout forum …
Demise.
Partially true, I remember being at the owner
Of secondsout house and seeing the court/lawyers papers and yes my name was there, i thought i would be blamed for numerous threads on the
forum …. I was staggered at the reason why i was
Named ….
A certain promoter highlighted an article i wrote about a high profile boxer and his lack lustre performance in a recent fight.
Another website where i was blamed for its demise was doghouse boxing, they had ublished an apology Letter on their main page … I remember myself and Ben Carey being furious … ben and i agreed another move was on the cards … i cannot remember where we went to next but were joined by an ever increasing number of readers.
Boxrec was where my commanding officer received a letter concerning my conduct on the forum … i
Was nearing the end of my army career,
My commanding officer called me into his office and he said something “if i tell you to stop,
You will get worse, so i am throwing this letter in the bin”.
I remember a poster on here called “boxing chat” I found out he worked for a certain promoter I hated
that **** and … I regularly posted “boxing tw+t
From Brentwood cries when he was sacked” … in my humble opinion he was a horrible piece of work.
I have however a lot to answer for concerning my
Behaviour on the forums … it is that
Behaviour that a lot pf people disliked and made it their business to have a pop at me.
I sincerely applogise and i mean that, i am sorry for spoiling people’s experience on the forum,
I will say for the 3rd time I am sorry.
There is a but, whilst my conduct on the forum’s had a lot to answer for, i got more than 1 job in boxing
By people contacting me on the websites so my thought was why should I change?
Also i have made genuine friends on these forums.
Age and time is a good healer … im here At last for genuine debate.
Welcome back everyone …
Demise.

Welcome back everyone …
Don’t beat yourself up over this any more ffs!!
It doesn’t matter anymore.
What I miss about SecondsOut was the interaction between UK and US. Was a bit more seamless. Or maybe I’m just harking back to the good old days!
Keep on posting fella. Well can all agree/disagree but, bygones are bygones.

Re: Welcome Back!!!
Ah Secondsout, great memories.
I used to post a lot in the general section at one time, some real characters there. I remember a pair called REED and Mexican Radio who were always at each others throats, pretty entertaining, I wish their battles were still out there to scroll through.
Someone called Esk59 was another confrontational character, and inevitably got called Esk69 a lot.

The creativity that used to go into online rucks back in the day, was something truly special, looking back. These days presumably most people haven’t got the time or inclination to invest so heavily in it.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑15 Mar 2024, 17:29the Esk69 jibe made me chuckle, I would have been a part of this if there.Kilburn wrote: ↑15 Mar 2024, 16:56 Ah Secondsout, great memories.

Another poster has come to mind, Jack somebody, for weeks he would sign off every post (of which there were many every day) with “Corrales by KO”, to mock those of us picking Mayweather in the upcoming unification showdown. Pretty sure he disappeared immediately after the fight, or at the very least quickly reinvented himself as someone else.

Re: Welcome Back!!!
Do any of you remember the forum on BritishBoxing.com?
It got very lively - you were on it Spud.
We also had problems with potential litigation.
This was capped off by one particular poster spamming the forum and having something of an online breakdown.
We then had to unfortunately make the decision to close it.
This was back in the very early days of the internet, when there was little or no precedent for who was held responsible for content published via a forum.
