Anyone give Maxi Hughes any chance tomorrow?

Tough ask against Zepeda. Think he'll get shellacked. The output of Zepeda is something else

Can’t see past Zepeda myself, his engine is so good & just feel as though his pressure will be a bit too much for Maxi, hope I’m wrong though.

zepeda is ridiculously fit averages 100+ punches a round (128 vs jo diaz, the highest ever for compubox) throwing them heavy and without ever looking like he's slowing

hard to see maxi keeping up with him and i dont think maxi be able to grab enough rounds to outpoint him. tough fight, for me the bigger question is if maxi will last 12.

Maxi has improved. With someone like zepeda you would think giving him some early wallops would put him in check but I've seen him taking clean punches which shake him to his boots and he responds by recovering quickly and upping his output. It's a hard ask to outbox him for 12 as his style is designed to overcome boxers. Serious firepower is needed and we know Maxi doesn't possess that.

Unfortunately for Hughes, Zepeda appears to be a genuine world class operator .. I still unsure if that's elite, but appears to be good enough to be giving a good argument at that level.

Zepeda bashes opponents up. Not an opponent Hughes would have had on his preferred opponent of choice I'm sure.

Zepeda before the 3rd.

408 punches in 4 rounds, over 100 a round yet again. he might have the craziest work rate of anyone active since i started watching decades ago, other fighters with big volume are usually arm punchers, but zep digs into his shots and can keep doing it 12 rounds

zep threw 128 punches a round in that one, crazy! the round he got rocked, he was right back to beating jo jo up. this guy has some special kind of gas tank on him, simply does not tire. maybe a standout endurance athlete in another life. it's like he unlocked the cheat code on knockout kings or something

Great corner work pulling Maxi out there, that was painful to watch. Zepeda just never stops throwing punches and he doesn't miss many either. The look on Hughes' wife's face at the end of the fourth said it all.

I thought they should have thrown the towel in during the 4th. It was real painful to watch and we know Maxi doesn’t have the one punch power to turn the fight.

Hughes had big issues getting into the US. Arrived in Vegas, was then deported by to the U.K. due to Visa issues. Had to sort it out and did it in Befast a few days after arriving back in the U.K. and then had to fly back to Vegas from Dublin late in the day. Awful prep really.

that is possibly the worst pre-fight prep ever, poor sod. Must have been up and down throughout the week.. Nice corner to pull him out. Wonder who he fights next, some good domestic fights perhaps?

The IBO has been good to Maxi, helped him secure some late career paydays, hopefully he is financially secure now.
He should have cleared half a million in the last few years, fingers crossed he hasn't spent too much!

yeah, he does not strike me as wasteful, was still working full time as a tradesman (plasterer iirc) until a couple of years ago.

Bugger me ! Zepeda throws an avalanche of punches...and they ain't pitty patty either.

Hughes did well to stay on his feet but no sane person would have let Maxi out for the 5th round. Hughes tried his best, but Zepeda is a human tornado :box:

Zepeda is class. Although when my wife pronounces his name in her Yorkshire accent he sounds like a very dodgy person...

If that guy has a proper chin on him he'll.be virtually unbeatable.

Doesn't matter who you are, if you can't hurt him enough to stop him, or at least make him wary of throwing, then he's just gonna wear you down to the point of exhaustion.

Some guy is gonna have to spark him clean or hurt him bad enough for the ref to jump in as I can't see him losing on points
