Schooled him in how to not throw a punch for 12 rounds?
What a borefest that fight was, and Parker is boring at the best of times.

I do think Hughie is decent, has just been decimated by health conditions. I know I mock the man strength comments but he took hard fights young vs Parker and Povetkin. He has looked good before, he was impressive against Sexton. What do you all think of Hughie? I'd just love to see him garner some momentum. He's still in his 20s and has been a pro for over a decade.
I was seriously thinking of him being a future world champion right up until the Parker fight just over 5 years ago. He said his health problems were sorted, the weeping acne on his back was probably just down to dining with Tyson too much.
But even against Wach he was boring, and that doesn't put bums on seats.
The Hughie Fury fan club doesn't even extend to his own family.
Good post. No issue with the PED comment or the rest, but the acne was a proper issue that seriously hampered him, it was a severe immune system level issue that PEDS don't just cause on their own (I say this as someone who knows PEDS and sebaceous gland issues well if nothing else).
Yeah, not cool of me to rip on the stuff he can't help. :verysad:
But there was so much said (by him) about how it was sorted, and then he goes into a title fight so lethargic he got beaten by a more determined but basic boxer in a fight he should have won on the outside just peppering the smaller Parker.
I lost $20 (£10) on him, not bitter :OhYes:

For the conspiracy theorists it is 2 and half years to the weekend since his last fight that he will return. Nathan Gorman returned for his last fight 1 year to the weekend after his previous fight.

I personally hope there's transparency if there are bans being handed out but this is now two guys who have been out the ring for ages and returned at a precise timescale + the remainder of the week after their last fights.

No worries. I used to think Huggie had some potential (man-strength pending) until that fight which was his big chance to win the easiest belt.

my view is so ill-informed mate I've not even watched it apart from highlights, my deep knowledge is based on 'shades of Ali' quotes from Mick, and remembering it was a weird YouTube PPV that meant Mick had to apparently sell half of MH promotions or mortgage his house or both.

Very rarely have a I been to an arena fight that was half empty. And very rarely you could move seats towards ringside to make the arena look full.

It was that dull the undercard was terrible too, in all honesty I can't even remember who was on the undercard as I spent most of the evening having a go at Amir Khan and going to the bar.

The main event was as dull as washing.

Beer is always around Fiver a pint. But I have a secret way of getting booze for free!

If you are in a very busy arena. And you get your round in. Here's what I do.

Get a couple of pints, obviously there are loads of people in the queues, when they hold the ticket machine, insert your card and put in a 4 digit number, take your card out and walk away quickly with the booze. Simple as that

I remember you posting on here from the venue saying how empty it was, but the youtube feed I was watching made it look fairly full. Probably because all the cheaper seat patrons moved up :D
And it was one of the most dreary heavyweight title fights I've ever seen, and I watched 12 rounds of Fury Klitchko :o

I remember buying the tickets when I was pissed thinking the show would sell out. When the undercard was announced I put my tickets back on resale. Couldn't sell them!

Anyway it was a night out and did have a laugh with Amir Khan.

Health issues I think. Then I seem to recall his dad saying that no one wanted the heat so he was struggling to get fights

A likely loss for small money, it's lose lose for the opponent.

Doesn't seem like promoters are queuing up to invest money in a fighter where the return isn't substantial either.

What a load of utter balls, what is peter going on about here - doctors prescribing antibiotics for viruses? What exactly has he been diagnosed with, why would a professor be diagnosing anybody, professors don't practice medicine.

Hughie will return, and be just as boring and ineffective as before.

it was a Professor of Mancunian Man Strength (MMS) James, it's an up and coming medical genre, likely to really blow up circa 2050.

I defer, and stand corrected Sean - I wasn't availed of the very latest advances in the study of human physiology.

It's worth remember of course, that Hughie is 'Just a babby.'
