Boxrec helpfully has a record of annual ratings from Ring Magazine here:
https://boxrec.com/wiki/index.php/The_R ... al_Ratings
Unfortunately, there seem to be some errors.
For example: https://boxrec.com/wiki/index.php/The_R ... ings:_1966
This claims to be the ratings from the March 1967 edition, for the year ended 1966.
I have that magazine in front of me, and the ratings for Heavyweights show the following:
Clay (Ali) - Champion
1) Terrell
2) Folley
3) Spencer
4) Mildenberger
5) Patterson
6) Jones
7) Lincoln
8) Chuvalo
9) Cooper
10) Bonavena
This is different from what Boxrec shows, which is :
Ali, Champion
1) Terrell
2) Folley
3) Spencer
4) Patterson
5) Mildenberger
6) Frazier
7) Bonavena
8) Chuvalo
9) Persol
10) Ramos
There are also differences with the other weight classes.
How do we get this corrected?

Re: Errors on Ring Magazine Ratings page
Unfortunately, The Ring, or to be more accurate it's editor, Nat Fleischer made many errors regarding ratings.
Fleischer would very often put a fighter in the wrong division.
Every March he used to rank every fighter in the world in a "special" edition. The top 10 would often differ from the previous months ratings for no apparent reason. Fleischer was, unfortunately, prone to make mistakes.

Re: Errors on Ring Magazine Ratings page
Thanks, but unless I'm misunderstanding something this seems to be a difference between what Boxrec says Ring's ratings were, and what they actually were. Whether Ring's ratings were consistent with previous ratings is a separate issue.
Re: Errors on Ring Magazine Ratings page
Sorry for the stupid question, but are you sure? It would be strange for the Ring to rate Bonavena but not Frazier who had beaten him in September 1966.Simon Lock wrote: ↑10 Mar 2024, 13:18 Boxrec helpfully has a record of annual ratings from Ring Magazine here:

I’ve just checked, see this image:

Re: Errors on Ring Magazine Ratings page
I seem to be misunderstood; there appears to be a discrepancy between the ratings.

Re: Errors on Ring Magazine Ratings page
Hi, I’ve taken a picture of the magazine here:
https://ibb.co/8MVMR0R
Can you confirm whether I am correct, and if so can the page be updated? Thanks
