Mr Snipes wins, most likely on points. He was a naturally sized heavyweight and Leon wasn't. Spinks was vulnerable against big guys who were reasonably quick and had a half-decent punch.

Mr. Snipes would wear Neon Leon down with jabs and body shots before setting him up with a big right hand to KO him in 8 rounds.

Even though I pick Snipes, I do give Spinks an outside chance at springing the upset. That's because Snipes was sloppy at infighting and a generally inconsistent performer.

Keep in mind that Alfredo Evangelista - a smallish, hard-brawling fringe contender - upset Snipes in 1983. I didn't see that bout, but I remember Snipes was supposed to win. If Snipes could blow it against Evangelista, then he could screw up against Leon.

But still, I rate this one 75% chance of victory for Snipes against 25% chance for Leon.

In terms of predicting a winner in a hypothetical matchup between Spinks and Snipes in 1982, it is challenging to determine without knowing specific details such as their physical conditions, training, and fighting strategies at that time.

Upon watching a good bit of both fighters this week. I'd favor Snipes. Leon Spinks would make it fun though you can count on that. He always went down swinging.
