exhibition fight between Valuev vs Jofre...in order to establish that the software is running "non pound for pound"

Post by BoxBuzz »

there is a setting on the software that allows for pound for pound fights. It's wording is ambiguous....so I wondered if it was set correctly. This should demonstrate that indeed it is set correctly. No pound for pound fights are being run this season. so weight class difference is important.

I was surprised enough by the outcome of Jones vs MacCallum to investigate.

If your fighter is superlative at a lower weight class, or had a better record at a higher weight class.. said fighter may not carry that "gravitas" at alternate weight classes. The Champs at their most successful weight classes are better in their most successful weight classes. Which does make sense

RJJr is rated above Mike at MW, but with Jones his LHW rating is lower than his MW rating and lower than Mike's at MW. I surmised that the weight difference would more than make up for the rating difference and anticipated a win for RJjr...but in this case, it looks like these descrepances put them on pretty even footing. So this "upset" is less surprising....and this demo proves the software is indeed operating at the proper setting.

At the Pound for pound setting Jofre would make quick work of Valuev. I have seen this personally and know it to be true.

If your fighter is not operating in his best weight class, best think it over before you challenge an all time great in an adjoining weight class. And be thoughtful about calling out any heavier opponent as well.
