Re: Larry Holmes(1992) versus David Haye
It's an interesting fight, actually. Holmes of 1992 had enough to take Ray Mercer's "0" and to give a prime Evander Holyfield a good fight.
Haye was good. I don't like how he's called "overrated" nowadays. However, he had a very economic style with an average punch output. Also, he's most effective when he plays a counter-puncher role. But when he is forced to move forward and to initiate the attack (which Larry will most likely make him to do) - he often looks pretty sloppy, throwing those wild looping overhands.
Given Larry's style (especially, if we speak about an aged Larry) - he'll be trying to make Haye come at him. If he succeeds in making Haye commit and then counter him, when David is getting off-balanced - I can see him eventually outpointing Haye.
Catching Haye with a clean counter won't be an easy thing to do, given Haye's good reflexes. But I see Holmes banking most of close rounds. He'll be throwing more in his bursts.
Now, if we speak about Holmes of 1995 - his fight with Haye might resemble Holmes-McCall fight in a way. Might give Haye an edge, if it happens post-1992.
