it's possible, wardley's technique really fell to sh!t when he gassed and aside from however effective he was or wasnt, it just looked really messy to the eye and could have hurrt him in scoring. conversly, clarke was tired too but kept his form more in tact and l ooked more relaxed
defo needs someone to drill into him the importance of being able to stay more composed when he's tired. could be something that he's more calm about in the future having now been there once already, i wonder if he had some nervous/panic energy he was using up too

prior to this fight wardley had never completed more than 6 rounds in a fight.............clarke had been 10 once despite having half the total pro fights of wardley
as long as they didnt bust each other too much, could be a good learning experience

Wardley is an exciting talent in his own way. There's a hell of a fighter in there if he has enough time to learn.

Only time will tell! If the rematch happens we can have a gentleman’s bet!margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 16:38disagree, wardley was an exhausted spaghetti man half the fight and had that bleeding early, yet clarke still couldnt put him in his place and kept getting stung whenever wardly would string anything together. that was already a great chance there that clarke couldnt capitalize on.Frostieballs wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 10:20I’m with you on that.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 10:10
I think you have to favour Clarke in a rematch. Wardleys got some facial damage that isn't going to heal and is always going to open up like that in fights.
He’ll be more confident having done the 12 and knows he can take Wardley’s power (just). He can also work on avoiding those uppercuts and riding out the blitzes Wardley occasionally launches.
What did become clear was that neither are world beaters. Wardley doesn’t have the skills/technique and Frazer doesn’t have the engine or power.
wardley paces himself a bit more intelligently, like not dumping it all when going for a kill, and he can carry most of the rounds. wardley also clearly able to hurt clarke easier than vise versa to turn the tide in rounds and bank kds
wardley had never completed more than 6 rounds in a fight prior to this, the experience could serve him well

I am not sure he can really make any major change to his technique now - he is 29 and never had the amateur coaching etc .
Davison keeps reminding everyone he isnt teaching skills and technique but working with what a boxer has already and honing it to better effect and using the right tools at the right time .
Whyte said he saw once wardleys cut open rightup the game plan was out the window and he was just trying to go for the KO so there is work to do in terms of him really buying into the strategy and sticking to it .
Do you think Wardley would benefit from another technical trainer to bring him up to where he should be, mags? It's been said before that Davison doesn't bring fighters on from novice status and Wardley still looks a bit raw and awkward.

Wardley isn’t full time with Ben. I think he does most of day to day stuff with another guy (I can’t remember his name but wasn’t someone I’d heard of before).stevec@france wrote: ↑02 Apr 2024, 06:01dookus wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 16:50Wardley is the greater physical talent of the two, that's for sure, and he has good instincts too.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Apr 2024, 16:38

I thought he’d made some technical improvements when he fought Adeleye but that may say more about Adeleye than it does Wardley in hindsight.

Remember Adeleye's fight before the Wardley fight, against Ahmatovic. It was really horrendous he didn't win via a proper KO he won because Ahmatovic was too knackered after 5 rounds so didn't come out. Adeleye didn't actually look close to stopping a really horrendous puffed up opponent. You then look at the rest of Adeleye's record and it really is paper thin.maverick23 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2024, 06:50Wardley isn’t full time with Ben.
