Tyson when asked about it said "ok, if that's what's being said then roll with it". It was probably exaggerated BS but it was the start of a buildup to a possible future matchup. Then Williams started losing and that was the end of that

p s I was there that day that a 14 year old Tony Ayala embarassed titleholder Pipino Cuevas in a sparring session in 1977
I remember Williams, quite a heavily muscled fighter, I can recall reading about him in Ring Magazine as "one to watch" as you say though he didn't live up to the hype. Just looking on his boxrec bio I does say Bill Cayton said Williams decked Tyson in sparring so maybe true.

How were you there for the Cuevas and Ayala sparring session, was it as one sided as some reports claim?
Yep, that's him :TU:

I was kidding about the mythical Ayala - Cuevas spar......it never happened :OhYes:

another mystery is.
i was reading Mike Tyson's 2013 autobiography again the other day,
and he mentions that he was to fight on the undercard
of a fight being held in Madison Square Garden in October of 1985.
However the opponent bailed out at the last minute .
So instead Tyson went down to some kind of Porno club/brothel/whorehouse
located at 42nd Street/ Times Square NYC to get 'laid" (because it had been a while since the 1984 Olympics)
Anyone know the name of the 'no show" opponent ?
Just think, if the dude had shown up .
His name would live forever
via Mike Tyson's ring record.
