Press Release

Manchester’s AO Arena plays host to an exciting domestic clash between super featherweight rivals Jordan Gill (28-2-1, 9 KOs) and Zelfa Barrett (30-2, 16 KOs) on Saturday April 13, with World Title action on the undercard as Warrington’s Rhiannon Dixon (9-0, 1 KO) looks to win her first World Title when she takes on Argentina’s Karen Elizabeth Carabajal (21-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant WBO 140lbs crown.

Chatteris’ Gill, a former European and Commonwealth Champion at Featherweight, stunned Irish hero Michael Conlan with a seventh-round stoppage win on away territory at the SSE Arena Belfast last month and immediately called for a World Title shot in his post-fight interview. Standing in ‘The Thrill’s’ way of a dream World Title shot is Manchester’s former World Title challenger Barrett, and the 30-year-old ‘Brown Flash’ has further World Title aspirations of his own having come up short against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov for the IBF title in Abu Dhabi.

Dubois is still mandatory for the IBF. Beatriz Ferreira is next in line for that and her against Dubois is a good one. Ferreira got silver in the Olympics and was twice gold medallist at the worlds.

Zelfa Barrett on Facing Jordan Gill: "If It's a Final Eliminator, I'll Take It With Both Hands"

“Look, I’m not calling him out. I’d prefer to be calling out the world champions,” Barrett told BS.com. “Jordan isn’t a world champion and I’d be getting nothing from it but if Eddie said to me, ‘Yo, Zelfa. Jordan Gill in a final eliminator for a world title,’ then I’ll take that fight all day long. No question about it.

“I wanted the winner out of them two [Gill and Conlan] anyway and Gill won. He can’t jump the queue though so if that’s the fight for a final eliminator, I’ll take it with both hands.”

Bizarre that this is at the AO Arena - type of fight that would have been headlining a leisure centre ten years ago. I can't see how Matchroom make any money from the show. No doubt they'll be giving tickets away the week of the fight.

They’ll use the lower tier only no doubt.

Enjoy, be good to know what the atmosphere is like in person. I like 'em both, I want Gill to win though, he's had a hard 12 months.

Cameron Vuong Stops Ishmael Ellis In 6th Round, Will Face Jordan Flynn On April 13 In Manchester

Cameron Vuong remained perfect in his young career and is already set for his next fight.

The first-year pro enjoyed a one-sided, sixth-round stoppage of a reluctant Ishmael Ellis. Vuong was scheduled for his first scheduled eight-round bout, but Ellis’ lack of effort forced referee Bob Alexander to stop the contest at 2:36 of the sixth round Saturday on DAZN from Indigo at The O2 in London.

Vuong fought at a deliberate pace versus a defensive-minded Ellis, who did little throughout to engage. The first scheduled eight-rounder perhaps played a part in Vuong refusing to let his hands go given the lack of an offensive threat in return.

That dynamic changed in the fifth round. Vuong saw greater success with his right hand, though still mostly one punch at a time. Ellis was in retreat mode as he was caught with a left uppercut along the ropes. The Birmingham journeyman was forced to contend with a bloodied nose, which only further contributed to his lack of effort.

Vuong remained on the hunt in round six. He effectively caught off the ring and give Ellis little room to run. The one-sided nature of the fight was not lost on the referee, who intervened during a Vuong rally to stop the fight.

Vuong advanced to 4-0 (3 KOs), remaining active since his October 7 pro debut. That hectic schedule will continue—promoter Eddie Hearn announced after the fight that Vuong will face Jordan Flynn on the April 13 Zelfa Barrett-Jordan Gill DAZN show in Manchester. The two exchanged words, which ended with a shove from Vuong before he exited the ring.

Vuong-Ellis took place on a show as part of Matchroom Boxing’s NXTGEN series. Headlining the card, London’s Liam Dillon (13-0-1, 3 KOs) and Watford’s Reece Bellotti (17-5, 14 KOs) meet in a twelve-round, British junior featherweight title fight.

“It was such a nice experience to go to super feather and feel like myself again,” Gill said.

“For probably three years I should have gone up. It was just too hard to make feather. You can make it but there’s a difference between making a weight and performing at it.

“It was probably my best performance since Ryan Doyle [who Gill beat back in 2018] or maybe Emmanuel Dominguez in Peterborough. Since then it’s been downhill really, and it’s frustrating because I could have done a lot more in my career, but we’re here now and looking forward to getting this fight done and won and moving on to bigger ones.”

“It’s a period that I’m enjoying – I’m happy in myself,” he said. “Happy at my new weight. Happy with my performance last time even though it wasn’t perfect. I’m happy to be back in a big fight.

“Your career is always at the forefront of your mind and boxing has always been my life. To be back on track is a nice feeling. It brings you peace outside of boxing as well. Everything in life is going smoothly and I want it to continue.”

genuinely curious, is that a beer and a burger, or free drinks all night type. I've only ever bought tickets never a package so don't know how it works.

I'm not 100% sure to be honest on that package but they did expand on the private box for 16 people what's included in the 3.5k.

Private suite package includes:

• Dedicated fast track entry

• Private bar and waiter service

• Champagne reception

• Hot and Cold buffet

• Inclusive of House Wine, Bottled Beer, House Spirits and Soft Drinks

• En-suite WC & cloakroom facilities

• Event tickets inclusive
