Andy Murray is asking for it !!
Has anyone seen this on Britishboxing.net, Andy Murray is supposedly going to spar Thai great Khaosai Galaxy and also Somluck Kamsing, who won an Olympic boxing gold medal.
Khaosai Galaxy may have retire long ago, but I still wouldn't get in the ring with him, so unless Galaxy takes it very easy it could be an embarressing time for Murray.
Galaxy was a super flywieght champion, possibly the greatest ever.
And he looked like a welter weight, he used to just walk down opponents, there wasn't much finesse about his style, he was just so strong and powerful.

Why is Galaxy sparring though, he retired bloody ages ago, like 10-15 years ago wasn't it? Don't tell me he is thinking about a comeback.
I always thought Galaxy was a bit overrated, he was so crude it was untrue, very very strong, but I don't think there was a great deal of depth in the division at the time and he never fought outside of his homeland.

True Galaxy never fought outside of Thailand, but neither have alot of champs e.g. Calzaghe.
And superflys are not going to be much of a drawer in the US, Galaxy did defeat 8 boxers who either went to to hold or had held world title with the 3 main bodies.
I've seen a few of Galaxys fights and thought he wasn't any kind of stylist, but he is a deserved hall of fame boxer IMO.
as for the sparing with Murray i think its just a publicity thing, but i wouldn't mind seeing Galaxy landing one on him just to let him know who he's messing with.

I remember watching one KG fight, half way through the commentator (on ITV if memory serves) said some people in Asia believed he had a twin brother who was about a stone lighter and would weight in the day before. Obviously untrue but it goes to show how baffled they were by his size advantage at the time.

Khaokor Galaxy suffered one of the strangest Ko's i've ever seen, it was against Luisito Espinosa, when he defended the WBA Bantem title.jamesmcdonnell wrote:He did have a wtin brother funnily enough. Khaokor I think his name was, who was also a boxer but at a higher weight I think. both were champs briefly.
In the 1st round Espinosa landed a right to the jaw, Khaokor then moved around the ring and actually threw a few punches, then he keeled over straight backwards completly out of it. must have been 4-5 seconds from the right of Espinosa's landing and the punch to take effect. Strange.

And just as strange that Murray is sparring modern great Galaxy too, after all these years. I think I'd heard he runs a gym these days, as he was no doubt named after in his fighting days.
