Has Joshua's next opponent been leaked?

Post by MasterG »

According to Derek Chisora in an interview with Boxing Social AJ will face the winner of the Dubois v Hrgovic, fight at Wembley. AJ has said his next likely fight will be September.

Hardly leaked. It’s been made pretty clear that if AJ dosent fight fury next he will fight for the IBf.

And fury is tied up.

At this stage of his career AJ is just after the legacy of regaining the Worlds title before retiring, and the huge payday of course.
Staying active and fighting every 4 months or so has benefitted him loads in re-establishing his brand, but it's very likely something way too demanding for someone already fabulously rich.

With Usyk & Fury being tied up until around this time 2025, I think AJ picks up the IBF belt in September from whoever, then goes into semi-retirement until a mega money fight happens with Fury regardless if holds any belts in late 2025 ... or 2026.

I'd gladly watch any pairing of Joshua, Hrgovic & Dubois. Big hitting, good boxers :box:

Joshua is doing entirely the right thing, keeping active, and staying sharp, whilst Fury is slowly sliding into semi retirement. I wouldn't be surprised if Fury does lose convincingly to Usyk, that he would call it a day - I am not really sure of his motivation any more.

Joshua v Dubois would I think be pretty painful for Dubois.

Joshua hardly likes being clocked and Dubois hits hard enough. Will be interesting if Dubois lands early.

Dubois is easier to hit, and Joshua has better fundamentals, id back joshua to land clean earlier.

I think if Dubois survived the early going, could be interesting, has youth on his side

you are all missing an important point which is :

Dubois gets beat by Hergovic so wont get the chance to get walloped by AJ

I'm happy with either of those being an opponent.

My thinking is whoever they match up it's likely to be an exciting affair, no matter how long it lasts. I'm struggling to see an outcome where we'd be moaning about a lack of action :maybe:

me neither, was definitely a surprise. It is for me a sign of how much people who have worked with Ben respect him, that I've never read any bitter comments towards him from people after leaving him. Even Tyson said Ben is a good link up for AJ.

I guess so. It's now reached the point where I'd better stop calling him Boxercise Ben

Hrgovic Vs Dubois isn't for another 2 months then obviously there will be quite a few months turnaround for the winner. Joshua should target a fight in the summer, a big name for highly ranked opponent would be good. There's not loads that aren't in talks for another fight but these should all be pretty one-sided walkovers at this stage with some name value or promotional quality: Joyce, Whyte, Makhmudov, Ortiz, Gassiev, Hunter or Zhaoxin Zhang.
