Holyfield v Oquendo

Holyfield has annouced his next opponent and its a big step up from his last fight against Jeremy Bates.
Fres Oquendo is a rated boxer who blew his biggest chance when he seemed to freeze against John Ruiz in a challenge for the WBA title.
One thing though, Oquendo is more of a boxer than puncher, which may cause Holyfield problems as he couldn't get near the last 2 boxers who moved against him in Toney and Donald .
Oquendo hits sharp enough but alot of his stoppages against any good opposition are in the later rounds, I would say he probably hits as hard as Toney if not harder.
I'm not convinced that Holyfield's poor performance against Toney and Donald was down to the shoulder injuries, and not just age and wear and tear after a long career.
Holyfield seems convinced he's going to win back the title , and seems to be going for a quick approach by taking on Oquendo, and trying to get a shot at one of the Champions.

Yes, I think Fres should start as the favourite here - he was robbed badly vs Byrd and is among the better boxers in the devision.

His chin is pretty good but not invincable, but I doubt Holyfield has the power to hurt him. Oquendo can be inconsistent though and can look very ordinary. However, although generally good vs Bates, I thought Holy looked pretty tired just after the stoppage - I think he was close to punching himself out.

Another points loss for Evander. Hopefully this time he realises he cannot cut it any more and stops blaming injuries

Oquendo is barely a stepping stone to the big time but should still be way beyond Holyfield at this point imo.

He can box and move quite well and isn't incredibly powerful. I expect a Donald like shut out without Evander taking undue punishment.
That should hopefully prove to him that's this 5th world title thing is not to be without having to be nailed to the canvas.

Here's hoping anyway.

He should fight Audley Harrison, if he loses to Audley then i think he would know for sure hes finished

It truly is crap, or is it just me?

One telling aspect is that after Holyfield fought Ruiz the Evander camp decided that John's whingeing was a tactic that paid dividends and took it on board.

I have the book if anyone wants to take it off my hands, it may prejudice your view of Evander though, I had to watch the Dokes fight six times to recuperate and I still cannot bear to watch the man's interviews.

He should sue this prick.

I think Holyfield probably is a bit of a twat... I mean I realise he is a total warrior with great heart, but you also have to remember his hypocrisy with his 9 kids outside of wedlock whilst preaching all that christian stuff.. then there's the severe steroid abuse..... using the head..... his total delusion about himself and his fights.
