How about Niclino Locche, Is he white?
What about Canelo? He is ethnically either Spanish/French/Irish or a mix of all three.

he came up tough for sure. He’s a hall of famer and was a terrific fighter. Fought Gavilan for the title couple times I believe. Word is, he was shafted in their first title encounterCaractacus wrote: ↑01 May 2024, 15:40 don't think I had ever heard of him before ,before you brought up his name here.
had he grown up "The Hard Way" ?
and Did he ever fight for the title ?
Guy I knew and worked out at the same gym with in the late 80s. Marty Jakubowski had a ton of fights. I wanna say also Buck Smith , maybe Harold Brazier. All three guys fought out of the Midwest.Caractacus wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 12:52 Has anyone done a statisitc as to how many fights any single professional fighter
had over the decades (like some kind of chart/graph)?
The date of birth would be interewsting.
who was the last pro fighter that had "100 fights" on their record ?
( or closest to that)
I remember seeing Jakubowski on the Tuesday Night Fights series back in the day. He mentioned a lot of fighters were jealous of his record, he said it happened just kinda by coincidence. Like he didn't set out to have that many fights, the opportunity just kept kinda presenting itself.Expug wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 13:33Guy I knew and worked out at the same gym with in the late 80s. Denny Moyer had had 100 pro fights, when he won the JUNIOR -Middleweight Championship.Caractacus wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 12:52 Has anyone done a statisitc as to how many fights any single professional fighter

Yory Boy Campas is still fighting and has a record of 108-17-3. Seems possible he’ll be the las fighter to rack up 100 wins and have 100+ fights but a winning record. Most fighters with that many fights now are journeymen with heavily losing records.Caractacus wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 12:52 Has anyone done a statisitc as to how many fights any single professional fighter

Lotta fans don’t realize he almost had a very early end to his career. Marty was at a carnival in I believe East Chicago Indiana and was stabbed. Bad situation there for a while but tough as nails pulled through and had a great career in the game. It happened after he started fighting pro. Probably 88 -89. Around that time.gilgamesh wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 13:36I remember seeing Jakubowski on the Tuesday Night Fights series back in the day. Sparred with him quite a bit. I don’t think he would’ve said he fit the title of last great white American fighter. R.i.p.
I don't know how he went 30-0 when he lost his 18th fight.Caractacus wrote: ↑16 Nov 2024, 15:57 At one point in his pro boxing career, Vinnie Curto was 30-0.
( when Sylvester Stallone was going to manage him his record was 60-4,
plans were for him to be shown on Showtime and become next middleweight champion , but Dr. Ferdie Perchenco
told Sly he would be 'heart-broken".
