Billy graham was a few years before Fullmer. I’ve got him as a great fighter. Better than Fullmer? That’s the question. Larger body of work. Never stopped, never even down I believe. Fought similar resume to Fullmer. Twice as many fights roughly. Robbed a couple times otherwise we’d be referring to him as champ rather than “ uncrowned champ”.

he came up tough for sure. He’s a hall of famer and was a terrific fighter. Fought Gavilan for the title couple times I believe. Word is, he was shafted in their first title encounter

.Billy Graham's trainer was Whitey Bimstein and he trained at Stillman's Gym in NYC during the early 1950's
along with Rocky Graziano.
wonder if the two ever sparred together ?
( even tho Graham was a welterweight, but Graziano fought a lot of blown up welterweights
early in his pro boxing career.

Guy I knew and worked out at the same gym with in the late 80s. Marty Jakubowski had a ton of fights. I wanna say also Buck Smith , maybe Harold Brazier. All three guys fought out of the Midwest.

I remember seeing Jakubowski on the Tuesday Night Fights series back in the day. He mentioned a lot of fighters were jealous of his record, he said it happened just kinda by coincidence. Like he didn't set out to have that many fights, the opportunity just kept kinda presenting itself.

Buck Smith is a blast from the past. He made the trip here in January 1990 and pulled off a shock win over Kirkland Laing at the Albert Hall in quite a thrilling contest. Laing was in determined mood and backed up Smith throughout but the American kept swinging back and landed a big left hook to drop Laing heavily in the seventh round. The Nottingham man beat the count but was clearly gone and referee Larry O'Connell waved it over.
Smith certainly rested on his laurels: he boxed only 28 more times in 1990.

Yory Boy Campas is still fighting and has a record of 108-17-3. Seems possible he’ll be the las fighter to rack up 100 wins and have 100+ fights but a winning record. Most fighters with that many fights now are journeymen with heavily losing records.

Lotta fans don’t realize he almost had a very early end to his career. Marty was at a carnival in I believe East Chicago Indiana and was stabbed. Bad situation there for a while but tough as nails pulled through and had a great career in the game. It happened after he started fighting pro. Probably 88 -89. Around that time.

I don't know how he went 30-0 when he lost his 18th fight.
