The Top 10 Boxers of the 21st Century (So Far)

So we often discuss who are the best fighters of all time. Best Defense of all time. Best Punchers of all time. Etc.

What about simply who are the best boxers we've seen in modern times?

From 2000 to 2024.

I'm sure most of us would be familiar enough with this era to pick the best we've seen in it. For me it'd be something like this.

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Bernard Hopkins
4. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez
5. Oleksandr Usyk
6. Terence Crawford
7. Andre Ward
8. Juan Manuel Marquez
9. Gennady Golovkin
10. Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez

Also. It should be noted, that I'm counting their work strictly from 2000 to now. If they were great in the 90's, and began slipping bad in the 2000's they probably didn't make the list. Which is why no De La Hoya and Roy Jones because the bulk of their best work had been done in the 90's.

I like Gonzalez, asmaller fighter but with immense skill, Gonzalez’s fast hands, combination punchinguno online, and ring generalship earned him recognition. His lower weight class dominance is remarkable.

We can say that is a fair list so far. Some of these fighters might make the top 100 all time pound per pound list.

At least Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins, Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather Jr are in. The rest? I don't know. They might need some much more work.

Usyk, Crawford and Canelo's legacy can still grow. I think Canelo has probably hit his peaks surely, but we'll see.

Usyk may potentially be only weeks away from his greatest achievement. Win or lose though, I think his status as a great P4P fighter is pretty solidified. He may rise or fall a few notches depending, but I think he's gonna stay in the Top 10 some kinda way.
