im not sure about that , usyk is also way more mobile than ngannou, harder to get to in the first place, and more accurate punching people as they move in. plus an elite hw shouldnt need to clinch even once to pound an mma fighter who is 0-0 in boxing

All of what you say , plus i think Usyk can and will hit often and hard enough to make Fury a bit wary , and i think Usky will hit harder than Cunninghammargaret thatcher wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 20:57im not sure about that , usyk is also way more mobile than ngannou, harder to get to in the first place, and more accurate punching people as they move in. plus an elite hw shouldnt need to clinch even once to pound an mma fighter who is 0-0 in boxing
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
Are people still doubtful of the fight happening?
I have a feeling it will, but I'm still thinking controversy, maybe a headbut or elbow that opens up the cut suffered by Fury in the first couple of rounds to make it an NC.

Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
Due to past history I'm still sceptical that this happens but you've made a good point about a No Contest before the 4th round ends would solve Fury's contractual obligations
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
a headbutt or an elbow causing/opening a cut is typically one of those fluke injuries (aside from Fury who will be using his elbows as usual) so a shoulder popping out or an achilles snapping are just as likely/unlikely.
Fury getting himself disqualified if the ref doesn`t allow him to get away with his fouls and dirty tactics is a lot more predictable.

Is Usyk really that much of a mug that he's going to let Fury lean all over him. I think too many people are doing Usyk a disservice here. The only way I see that hapening is if Usyk's legs are gone.
Otherwise, Usyk is on another level compared to Fury with speed of foot.

Everyone and their dog have predicted what Furys game plan will be .. basically jab, grab & lean on. And fill the gaps with fouling as much as he can get away with.
The Fury we have know is limited to these tactics due to his bad lifestyle outside of the ring. He hasnt shown even glimpses of what he could do before his PED ban, and the Ngannou fight showed he isn`t skilled or even clever enough to have a change of plan mid fight.
To think Usyk isn`t fully aware of what Fury will be planning and have a plan to counter this is being naive.
As typical of most of Furys fights aside from the exciting but crude Wilder fights; the Fury outside the ring is far more lively and aggressive than the Fury inside the ring. Even his own father has predicted a boring fight.
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
I can’t disagree on your take here.
Fury has been known to punch himself in a fight.
I’m sure we’ve all seen that one.
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
My prediction is, ref allowing, Fury to hit and hold his way to a decision in a boring fight

Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
Fury has looked more vulnerable around the chin than Usyk has around the belt line.
We can only go on recent fights to predict what will happen in May.
Usyk went down, and subsequently milked as much time as the referee allowed, from a blatant low blow from a young and powerful fully fledged heavyweight.
Fury went down from what looked like a glancing blow from a big strong guy making his professional boxing debut.

Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
I'd be surprised if we see a stoppage either way in Fury vs Usyk. Neither one of 'em are huge punchers exactly. Fury you'd think is gonna have more pop on his shots due simply to his size, but I don't suspect a KO is happening regardless.tonyevs wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 13:49 Fury has looked more vulnerable around the chin than Usyk has around the belt line.

Maybe a TKO due to an accumulation of punishment perhaps.
It's a very intriguing fight.

If Fury is as shot as he looked against Ngannou, then probably he’s getting stopped in 3 rounds.
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
I'd imagine the speed and accuracy of Usyk will equal any extra pop from Fury, possiblygilgamesh wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 14:04I'd be surprised if we see a stoppage either way in Fury vs Usyk. Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
I definitely don't think Fury is gonna be slowing Usyk down with bodyshots as someone suggested. Fury doesn't tend to throw a lot of body shots. If anything that would open him up to Usyk more due to the height disparity.
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
But it takes 4 rounds for Uysk to get goingpolecateddy wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 14:10 If Fury is as shot as he looked against Ngannou, then probably he’s getting stopped in 3 rounds.
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
4 rnds to get going against the better opponents.
The Fury we seen last time wasn't capable of a lot. Even his grabbing and clutching was a lot worse .. literally running across the ring desperate to hold Ngannou if you remember

One poor performance and your writing the bloke off?
Good thing your Mrs doesn't do that eh?.
He didn't train properly, he didn't have any footage of Ngannou actually boxing to study, and he got the win.

Using that logic Kiwi, he’d struggle against anyone making their debut.
Re: Is Fury stepping over the top rope on May 18th?
Well Joshua got a look at Ngannou actually boxing and had a clear plan. Fury didn't have that luxury, and probably thought (like most of us prior to the fight) that it would go down like McGregor Mayweather.Frostieballs wrote: ↑01 May 2024, 17:46Using that logic Kiwi, he’d struggle against anyone making their debut.
I'm just loathed to write someone off against one poor performance.

Levels fight.
Usyk levels above and always has been.

Top fighters can adjust on the night though,Fury should really have assessed the risk in the first 2 rounds and dealth with him how any self proclaimed lineal champ should have, like Joshua didKiwiRider wrote: ↑01 May 2024, 19:08Well Joshua got a look at Ngannou actually boxing and had a clear plan. It really shouldn’t take much to adjust to a novice who clearly has little boxing ability.514126 wrote: ↑03 May 2024, 11:15Top fighters can adjust on the night though,Fury should really have assessed the risk in the first 2 rounds and dealth with him how any self proclaimed lineal champ should have, like Joshua didKiwiRider wrote: ↑01 May 2024, 19:08Well Joshua got a look at Ngannou actually boxing and had a clear plan.
