There was hints of Antonio Margarito style controversy against Catley. Potentially got away with that one, especially as Catley wasn’t sure there wasn’t a foreign object wrapped in those gloves. Good effort coming up from lightweight though!

Yes, it looked decidedly dodgy. Really felt for Glenn. Robbed against Woodall and Haussler too. Still 57 is no age. RIP Thobela.

I remember the ring interview with Woodhall after that fight and he admitted that he thought he'd lost the fight .

Really rare honesty from a decent fella .

Woodhall was always honest such a humble champ, was the same when Sky did the roundtable of former SMW champs..

I always felt Cornelius Carr's win over Thobela was underrated.

SeanBrennan, i just remember Carr boxing well over the 12 rounds and keeping Thobela under control despite it being a tough affair. I always thought Carr was a talented boxer.

Carr had already scored a great win over James cook when claiming the British title, but the win over Thobela didn't get much attention, even after Thobela went on to have success at Super middleweight.

If memory serves I think an obscure channel called 'Bravo' covered the Carr v Thobela fight.

quite the interesting career. champ at 135 and 168 isnt something you often see. and he didnt get all muscle bound to make 168, he had a flabby dad body, but the skills still got him far

Yeah, I'd forgotten McCreesh pulled off a shock overseas win over Thobela.

It's amazing that a light champion was still a handful up at super middleweight.

He was a handful. On his night Geoff was a match for any welterweight in Europe
