Edward Vazquez vs Daniel Bailey

Post by handsofstone »

Tonight on DAZN, Vazquez coming off the world title loss to Cordina, he kicked off in the ring afterwards mind but thought Cordina was a worthy winner, Bailey is 13-1

Another 8 round headliner through, no idea why Vazquez has to be fighting 8 rounders especially if he's topping the bill

Vazquez beats Bailey by UD, 78-72 x2 and 79-73, I had it 77-75, pretty good fight, Bailey rocked Vazquez onto his heels with a couple of big right hands seconds into the fight and it developed into a bit of a firefight, Bailey quite a tidy boxer, upright, straight shots but didn't match Vazquez for volume, Vazquez not always pretty but he was all over Bailey like a rash, up close clubbing hooks, caught Bailey clean with big shots a few times but he's not a puncher so he never visibly hurt him, some good exchanges though and Vazquez deserved his win

No way Bailey only won 1 or 2 rounds like the judges scored it. I had Vazquez edging it.

vasquez a good fighter but style is kinda ugly. one of those guys who can maul, but then also knows when to tie up and smother and stall his opponent. a bit like carlos molina. kinda an art to winning when you cant punch, and aren't particularly fast or evasive. bailey's boxing was much easier on the eye, but he couldnt keep up

the asian guy ephram bui on the undercard was fun, prob my fighter of the night. fast hands and reflexes and wasnt afraid to mix it up when pressed. good one shot ko.

While it may seem unusual for Vazquez to fight 8-rounders after a world title loss, it could be a strategic decision to rebuild his career and regain momentum.

I'm not having 8 rounders headlining on TV especially with a guy who's just fought 12 close rounds for a title
