inoue pretty careless swinging like he did in close quarters with nery. the kd was good for him arguably tbh, after that his boxing was super sharp and on point.

What now? I dont want to get bored of inoue fights, i guess class regular fights is finee... Junto Nakatani probably makes sense, but in terms of spicey options...
feathweight belts?
is there a catchweight he can fight loma?
is there a catchweight he can fight Jesse Rodriguez?

The Monster !
Nery got an R1 knockdown and it wasn't flash - it was heavy. But The Monster regrouped, won R2 narrowly then slowly pulled away. 1st KD dented Nery and he looked ragged and chinny therafter. Deadly 6th round KO.
He really is special.

top rank has 2 champs at 126, lopez and 6 foot tall espinoza, so he can get some pretty easy to make title fights there id imagine
not sure how much he wants to push it though size wise
could a size bully like brandon 'face catcher' figureroa just work rate spam and smother him?

I know what you mean, but I don't think I'll get bored of watching him fight - I'd tune in for Paul Butler II !gregregegg wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 08:33 What now? sam goodman... fuckkk. even as an aussie i find it hard to get excited for that.
Inoues carrer is great, but i do get sad he missed chocltito and estrada on the way through. also think he missed a chance to go 4x undisputed which he could have. but as i said great carrer so far.

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery | ESPN+ - May 6, 2024
Inoue is unquestionably p4p top 3. For me he might be number 1. He's chewed up super bantamweight and spat it out, time to move up again?
Realistically, I wouldn't mind him defending against Nakatani and I assume that would sell big in Japan, but other than that he's proven that he's a level above everyone else 122 lbs or under. There's also a load of top Japanese guys at Bantamweight, including his brother, so they could just fight it out there without him. You could understand a final defence against Casimero.
He needs to go up to featherweight. He can for sure beat Boxrec #1 Brandon Figueroa (25-1-1) but there are some fun fights there for him on an inevitable undisputed title charge:
- IBF champ Lopez 30-2
- WBA champ Ford 15-0-1
- WBC champ Vargas 36-1-1
- WBO champ Espinoza 24-0
EDIT: fornicate, Goodman isn't exciting

gotta be lopez or espinoza first at 126 due to their top rank connections, espinoza is 6 foot tall and would be an awkward challenge.

If i am toprank i am trying to get the out of house guys first... then the tricky undisputed negotiations are in house.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 08:42 gotta be lopez or espinoza first at 126 due to their top rank connections, espinoza is 6 foot tall and would be an awkward challenge.

Inoue has very special power and punching technique but he makes big mistakes by dropping his guard and stay planted in a vulnerable position. When he fights sharply at mid-range, he is very, very special.
Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery | ESPN+ - May 6, 2024
Can somebody please explain me why it is marked as TKO and not KO?
See Anthony Joshua wins against Helenius and Ngannou for a reference.

ok thanks.
Probably would only take to be counted out for exact 10.000001 to score KO in Japan.

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery | ESPN+ - May 6, 2024
Just caught some extended highlights of this.
That heavy knockdown in the first really woke him up. He really is a monster.
What next? I can only see him getting beaten if he carries on for too long or moves up to high in weight.

He's 31.
That's old for a wee fella.
I think he should just hold onto his belts, stepping up again would be foolhardy. Better to create a legacy where he is.

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery | ESPN+ - May 6, 2024
That was wild. He got dropped heavily in the first then just gave Nery a punishing. A lot of the United States fans on other boards seem to really dislike Inoue which is a shame, and whenever he beats someone there is a reason why that person wasn't very good etc. I think he's a great fighter and a special talent.
I can't think of who he should fight next, maybe have some big domestic fights with some of the Japanese lads in and around that weight and call it a day. He can't keep going up lol

but yes, big draining face defense king figueroa may just do the whole big and strong thing. get his face beaten in and outboxed, absolutely teed off on like a heavy bag, but weight bully inoue.
Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Luis Nery | ESPN+ - May 6, 2024
I noticed that. Mayweather put out a short video about Inoue saying that he isn't great because Donaire touched him up and Fulton couldn't hit, and that he needed to go to the USA and have random blood and urine taken. I feel like my life is worse having watched that lolmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 19:25 for some reason a lot of black american fans dont like him

Filipinos also like to hate on a fighter, when one of their guys (Casimero) is in a nearby weight class.
Tribalism runs deep with these people.

Montero has called this out on his pod a few times and ain't afraid to tell it like it is.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 19:25 for some reason a lot of black american fans dont like him
Those guys seem to idolise Tank and probably fear that Inoue could well humble him if they ever met.
Davis may just be a bit too big for Monster but it would be a very risky fight for him
