I think that Lomachenko is the best boxer of the millennium

Post by Sweet Dick Willie »

Theres really nothing like him. Stylistically he is among the greats like Sugar Ray Robinson.

Him and Bernard Hopkins......

HIs mastery of the techniques - footwork particularly - is as good as anyone I've ever seen.

Shame he's not quite 'trained on' as a pro, but still a phenom.
Can't help thinking what he might've been as a weight-bully pro @ 118, 122, 126 if he'd turned over sooner.

Yep, ditto.

Would be touch and go to make the top five but a mainstay top ten candidate.

just among active guys id rank inoue, crawford, and canelo higher. tank for me as well. usyk's also achieved just as much with fewer hiccups. being so much bigger he d oesnt look as fancy as loma does, but you could feasibly rank him higher too. unlike loma, he knows when to pour it on, which i consider a part of boxing IQ

then you have guys like ward, floyd, pacquiao, hopkins, chocolatito, jmm

is loma a better boxer than winky wright was? im not so sure

no doubt very good, but no way is he the best since 2000. id put him around the same level of juan fransico estrada

I don't think he ranks among the Top 10 of Boxers since 2000 myself. Although he's close. At his peak he was a pleasure to watch, and had some of the best foot movement I've seen.

Easily one of the greatest amateurs of all time. Wish he would have turned pro younger. Almost 400 fights plus the ProAm fights. All three his losses were oddly debatable. Fought one armed against Teo and was hardly touched. Teo won first six. Loma looked like he won next six to me. Handles Haney clearly to me. Could have stayed at featherweight and never loss. Mayweather got those decisions with Castillo, Maidana and Delahoya. Hall of Famer easy.

OK Ok maybe Mayweather is better. Ward no way. Pacquiao is a drug cheat so I dont rate him. Hopkins yes. Chocolatito is one of the better ones but nowhere near Lomachenko

And now I'll say it, I think Bud is waaay overrated.

Canelo is close but not better than Loma, I think from the ones mentioned are Floyd and Inoue. Maybe Hopkins.

Maggie give us your 2000 top five!

Canelo, Crawford, Usyk, Juan Manuel Marquez. I'd put over him. I personally would have Golovkin over him, but it's at least debatable in his case same with Chocolatito.

Yes, Andre Ward is better. I was never a fan, but he was a better and more decorated fighter.

I actually made a thread about this recently in the Boxing History section, but very few people responded. I guess that section of the forum doesn't get a lot of looks.

But yeah. Since 2000, I'd have the Top 10 like this.

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Bernard Hopkins
4. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez
5. Oleksandr Usyk
6. Terence Crawford
7. Andre Ward
8. Juan Manuel Marquez
9. Gennady Golovkin
10. Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez

Lomachenko in fairness to him is certainly not far behind this list. If he were to defeat Tank or Shakur Stevenson, he'd definitely have to enter into the list then. Probably ahead of Golovkin.

8. Lewis
9. Klitschko
10. Estrada

Dont really know why you rate Ward so high!

Gold Medalist, Undefeated as a Pro. Arguably the greatest Super Middleweight of all time.

Several solid opponents in the Win column on his record. It's not that mystifying really.

I personally was never a fan, and I thought he got a gift in both Kovalev fights, but he rates highly in spite of that.

My rating Ward highly is not nearly as indefensible as your rating Bivol so high.

Are you British/American? Considering Bivol I was thinking about being impressed by the soviet style that's only been taught these days in the eastern bloc and Cuba

Yea I wonder how much more he would of accomplished if he received the Mayweather/Canelo treatment in close fights.

I've always wondered how any fans consider the Mayweather vs De La Hoya fight close.

Mayweather had fights he won with no argument from fans that were closer than that one.

Castillo and Maidana I totally get, I'd even say Castillo was outright robbed, but the De La Hoya fight wasn't close to me past the first 6 rounds.

I scored 9-3 Floyd. I don't see anyway Iscar won.
I scored Maidana fight 8-4 Floyd
