I was just now watching a bout of him(Reggie Strickland) posted on YouTube.
Versus Todd Foster. The bout took place in march of 1998.
They were both 30 at the time. Both looked pretty old for 30.
Boxrec used to show what he weighed in each of his many many many bouts. Not anymore though.
I remember back in the day noticing how much Reggie's weight fluctuated throughout his traveller jorneyman boxing carear.
He'd weigh in the 140's, then the 160's, and then the 180's, basically within a given year.

He travelled Alot. And he would obviously fluctuate between periods of fasting, and then have periods of gorging himself with good hearty grub. I also heard that for many of his bouts, he was suffering with pretty serious sleep-deprivation. From time to time he actually would chalk up a nice win versus a decent opponent, and Obviously he went the distance with quite a few better than decent opponents. He fought many 4, 6, and 8 rounders throughout his over 300 bout pro carear.

Its obviously very justifiable though, based on the frequency that he was in the ring, fighting 15-25 bouts per year,...year after year after year. What boxers do that anymore nowadays..? Yeah, there are some modern day traveling journeyman boxers that do maybe 10 per year. Still barely comparable to what Mr Strickland was doing.

Old thread but a memory nonetheless. Shared a dressing room with him in Chicago in 1989. Pretty early in his storied career. The venue was the park west. We were on the same card. I’ll never forget that guy. He was relaxed as can be. Not a care in the world. I asked him something along the lines of what weight he was fighting at. I didn’t know he was fighting, I believe, Lorenzo Smith. Anyway, he just laughed and shrugged his shoulders. It’s almost as if he knew he was gonna make a living showing up anytime, anywhere, against anyone at any weight for the next twenty years and 800 fights or whatever it was. Lol

his career is very similar in out line to UK's Peter Buckley, who fought a mere 400 times, i think. maybe it was only 300. easy to lose track

Fought on the same card as Reggie in his last fight at Rising Sun casino. I was telling my friends about him, and how he had over 300 fights in all kinds of weight classes. His last fight was against Dante Craig, who went from Olympian to journeyman pretty fast in his career.
