Uysk the Great

Post by big lennox »

What a privilege to be around at the same time as Oleksandr Uysk.

His record is just astonishing:

Over 300 amateur wins
World Amateur Champion
Olympic Gold Medalist
Beat all four belt holders at Cruiserweight to unify the division.
Beat Tony Bellew, a former World Champion who was in the form of his career.
Beat both Heavyweight World Champions to become undisputed Heavyweight Champion.

All of these titles won outside Ukraine.
Makes adjustments if fights aren't going well.

And gracious and dignified with it. One for all aspiring boxers to look up to.

Yeah he’s some man. Heavyweights today are monsters and they say a good big’en will always beat a good little’en but that’s not the case when the smaller man is exceptional.
His cruiseweight accomplishments speak for themself, he’s been the man in every division he’s stepped foot in. Full credit to Usyk

You can't help but like Usyk. Seems a genuine decent person and amazing to be two weight undisputed champ in only 22 fights.

Credit to Usyk. Great fighter.
He beat Fury in a great fight.
You slated Fury on a daily basis, questioning his courage and claiming he wouldn’t fight Usyk.
Did you overstep the mark with all the abuse or are you too cowardly to acknowledge it?

He is an ATG for sure.

Might also be the greatest road warrior ever, as he's always had to do it away from home.

Also, to achieve what he has achieved in only 22 fights is breathtaking.

The difference is, Fury's resume is pretty poor, you could argue the loss to Usyk, being a close one, is better than his win over Ancient Wlad - though that's obviously contentious.

Fury has some very good qualities, but also some major flaws. His chin isn't great, and he has a poor defence, especially as he switches off in fights, leaving himself open to massive shots.

How many times has he been down now - is it 8 in his career?

Incredible powers of recovery, as good as anybody I've seen, great heart, has good movement, but he's not a puncher, certainly punches way below his weight, and he isn't capable of working hard for 12 rounds.

I agree,he has only beaten one very skilled fighter in his career, but you don't win multiple domestic and world titles unless you are good,he just joins a long list of good fighters, and won't be joining the elite list

just on their hw careers it would be close, but usyk outdoes fury in his own division and then has an entire atg cruiser career on top of it.

mind you they are still active, and fury has still had a very nice career. usyk i think it just another level overall atm

Usyk is probably hovering around the edges of top 10 heavyweights, hard to rank him any higher with such a short career at heavy, but certainly very impressive.

Possible his wins over Dubois and AJ improve with age too, depends what the two of them go on to achieve.
