Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
Then it's weird I considered it close at the time. Like I definitely thought Usyk was coming out of the slump Fury had put him in, but not massively so.
Until R9 it felt like the pendulum was about to separate them by soaring, so apparently I fell into the Holdsworth system of scoring. "We'll give the opener to Uysk, I think. I liked his hat."

Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
I did'nt study or watch it intently enough to actually score rnds , but at the end i though Usyk had done enough , but a draw could'nt really be a robbery , definetly did'nt have Fury winning , Terrific 9th from Usyk , and there were a few wide rnds for each boxer and a few close rnds , the 9th i thin closed the deal .
I have been reading about bad corner work with 3 shouting in his ear at once , i did'nt get the corner work on the tv , but i read Sugar was telling him to go for it unleash the bombs , and his dad telling him to patter with light jabs and move .
When its that close , you need to impose your will somehow , and on occasions Fury had hurt Usyk , so running messing about is'nt gonna impose your will and give the judges a clear field , Usyk did go after him and imposed his will , I'm with Sugar , Fury should of stood his ground let them go then grab and maul towards the end , especielly the upercut and the right hand to the body which is just about the only weakness Usyk has . Anyone else notice has soon has Usyk startedd to move to the right and get his foot on Tysons outside , he started to land harder and better shots

I've only watched it once, live, but if i remember correctly i thought Usyk really did him over in the 8th and his fave was a bloodied mess going back to his corner.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑19 May 2024, 23:04 8th wasnt the beat down the 9th was, but it was a good round for usyk and a turning point in the fight, usyk landed a big shot that bothered fury and took him out of his groove. one of the rounds all judges agreed on, and 93 percent on boxrec's fan scoring gave it to usyk

115-113 Usyk. Some rounds hard to score though

Really, Big John's a liability in and out of the ring, isn't he.coneye wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 00:22 I did'nt study or watch it intently enough to actually score rnds , but at the end i though Usyk had done enough , but a draw could'nt really be a robbery , definetly did'nt have Fury winning , Terrific 9th from Usyk , and there were a few wide rnds for each boxer and a few close rnds , the 9th i thin closed the deal .

I can't believe I'm reading people say Fury won the first seven rounds
Even if you're leaning Fury's way, 114-113 Usyk is the absolute closest you could score this.

Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
It was some daft pattering punches by Fury that left him exposed for the big left in the 9th.
It looked to be Fury's to throw away during those middle rounds. The round where he hurt Usyk with 2 uppercuts within a short space of each other causing Usyk to take a backwards step, that should have been the point where Fury completely imposed himself on Usyk and took the centre of the ring for the remainder of the fight.
Credit to Usyk though, he is something special. In a fight where, pre-fight, it was a case of both of them always finding a way to win, he was the one who came through his difficult phase and found that extra gear.

Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
similar scenario in 2nd aj fight
think it was an uppercut then too. aj had a big round and had usyk retreating. usyk weathered it and the next round battered aj . just always has a response doesnt he. not to mention his own recovery powers are pretty good too

Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
John Fury has no business being in anyone's corner, he wasn't great as a boxer, certainly isn't the influence anyone needs as a trainer, and has no etiquette at all and looked like he shouted over Steward quite a lot which was silly.coneye wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 00:22 I did'nt study or watch it intently enough to actually score rnds , but at the end i though Usyk had done enough , but a draw could'nt really be a robbery , definetly did'nt have Fury winning , Terrific 9th from Usyk , and there were a few wide rnds for each boxer and a few close rnds , the 9th i thin closed the deal .

On the fight I'm going to have to re-watch it. I couldn't see a Fury win at all - I had him 4-3 up going into the 8th but then lost most from that point and with the KD in 9 had it wide for Usyk. Seeing all the close calls and some respectable posters saying they thought Fury had it, I'll have to watch it back!

ive only seen 3 people here say they thought fury won, and 2 are big fury bois, dont think your rewatch will result in a different verdict, but hey it was a good fight so what the hell

And when I heard one of the pundits say re the 9th 'if that had been the other way round, it would have been stopped', I have to agree - if the bigger man was pummelling Usyk round the ring bouncing off every rope with his eyes lolling in his head and no ability to keep his hands up, it would have been stopped IMO.

Even Warren gave Usyk the 1st round, all the judges did too.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 04:42 I can't believe I'm reading people say Fury won the first seven rounds

Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
Hard to split the first 4, you could have scored them all to Fury, or all to Usyk, or all a draw really, they were pretty quiet rounds relatively speaking, and neither man really dominated.Controversial wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 05:23Even Warren gave Usyk the 1st round, all the judges did too.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 04:42 I can't believe I'm reading people say Fury won the first seven rounds
I mean, you could have had Tyson up by 7, though it would have been quite favourable scoring. Fact is, none of the judges did.
Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
I had it 114-113 in Usyk's favour. Usyk won rounds 1,7,8,9,10,11 and Fury won rounds 2,3,4,5,6,12 but Usyk had the 10-8 round score in round 9. So the eyes have it, the eyes have it, many congrats to Usyk on becoming Undisputed
Excellent fight, good performance on the whole by both, hopefully we see the rematch in October...

Re: How Did You Score The Usyk-Fury Fight?
I couldn't pick between them in round 7, that's the only round I gave 10-10. If I did give round 7 to Fury I'd still have Usyk winning 114-113jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 06:01Hard to split the first 4, you could have scored them all to Fury, or all to Usyk, or all a draw really, they were pretty quiet rounds relatively speaking, and neither man really dominated.Controversial wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 05:23Even Warren gave Usyk the 1st round, all the judges did too.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 04:42 I can't believe I'm reading people say Fury won the first seven rounds

Might watch it again and score it. I find it boring though when I already know the result, and also, it's much different scoring a fight in real time, which is a lot harder.

That's exactly how I scored it except for round 12, which I had even.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 04:37Code: Select all

I wish judges gave more even rounds, because it makes the rounds that a fighter clearly dominates more important, which it should.hhaehre wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 07:41That's exactly how I scored it except for round 12, which I had even.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑20 May 2024, 04:37Code: Select all
