He's a 2024 Billy Walker - Billy Walker left the game happy, healthy and rich - he won! Didn't win any professional titles but he won boxing - he beat the system - if Fisher never wins a title and goes the same way as Walker then he has been a success.

Any reason to call him a bum? He may not be a natural talent but it’s disrespectful to call any pro fighter a bum.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑22 May 2024, 06:31 I dont think we will ever see Fisher step any higher up the ladder. He's a bum--a popular bum. But he's at his level of KOing other bums.
Any higher and he will lose, and then all of his fans will dessert him. They'll keep padding his record, feeding him bum and after bum and possibly cash out on a big fight against a major British prospect with some actual talent.

Big John makes me laugh, although I do worry about his health. And his family have grafted to get the following. I've never seen a family so influential in a boxer's success. Usually its the opposite.maverick23 wrote: ↑22 May 2024, 06:23Johnny said they’ve got 2000 Copper Bosh t-shirts made for this fight.KiwiRider wrote: ↑21 May 2024, 21:34Great plan.Pukka Cheese wrote: ↑21 May 2024, 19:49 Think its a good fight for Fisher tbh. Should be able to do a load of tickets and maybe merch too.
Smash Babic then call out Itauma for the saudi millions.
They shift a ton of merch as it is
I wanted a Romford Bull shirt![]()
Fair play to the family. They’ve really monetised things and it’s crazy how big a following Big John now has.

Agreed. John should make a concerted effort to lose weight. Tricky to do though when he’s doing personal appearances based around him ordering and eating Chinese.KiwiRider wrote: ↑22 May 2024, 16:19Big John makes me laugh, although I do worry about his health. They do seem to be a nice family. Can all take the Mickey out of each other.

Apparently Big John has lost 6 stone but I've gotta be honest I aint sure I've seen a drastic change.

While I understand being done with jay… he is suposidly down 25kg (from very heavy) and 2 months sober…. I hope he stays sober and fit and takes some winnable fights while getting to a good weight.jameswilson wrote: ↑17 May 2024, 19:31He did mention Steve Robinson after his last fight. Now obviously Robinson has taken a shellacking from Babic to the point you wonder whether you want to see Robinson box again.gregregegg wrote: ↑17 May 2024, 19:12 Jay McFarland or nick campbell are probably the type of fights he actually needs. Both tough nights out for him if they turn up. Solid area levle guys.
Nick Campbell I wouldn't mind seeing but a bit like Steve Robinson, I'm done with Jay McFarlane.
Jay isn’t going past brittish levle, but he can be very decent if he is fit and if it’s trying to win or just being a solid gatekeeper for prospects, in shape, I think he adds a valuable peice to brittish heavyweight scene.
I’d like to see jay as Scottish champ vs Irish champ or English champ or somthing like that some time in the future.

Jay is very tough, he's got down to CW before and won the Scottish title there, he just doesn't seem able to stay sober for long. His upbringing was bonkers if you read about it, that lad has never known stability sadly. I remember Dave Allen looking after him for a while, he was training consistently then as he was away from Scotland.
Although he got stabbed up shortly after returning to Scotland iirc.

Can't imagine the undercard having anything great, probably your Essex and London prospects getting an extra fight in. Sains and Visioli would be two I'd definitely expect on there.

I imagine they are waiting to see how many tickets Johnny can shift without an undercard befor they decide if they need a decent undercard.
Like if Johnny shifts a few thousand they will just throw on some filler… if Johnny shifts less than 2000 I imagine they will look for a couple of extra ticket sellers (obviously not on fishers levle of sales but decent).
If Johnny is way under 2000 they might put another decent fight in to boost it more.
Just a guess but kinda how I would look at it.

I wonder if they expected more or less at that point. Fisher was doing 1200 vs guys no one had heard of, so main event vs a name what is the par score?jameswilson wrote: ↑30 May 2024, 17:274 days ago Fisher had a post on his wall saying 1500 tickets sold in a few days.gregregegg wrote: ↑30 May 2024, 17:07I imagine they are waiting to see how many tickets Johnny can shift without an undercard befor they decide if they need a decent undercard.

1500 in in a few days is solid but, interesting to know if that ends up being 1800 or 5000…. The way people buy tickets is weird after Covid with a lot of last min buys and that seems to have continued (in the music industry at least) even after Covid became a non issue.
Copper box can do about 7000…. If they want it full they likely will need some help.
Re: Johnny 'The Romford Bull' Fisher
Babic can sell tickets too, maybe not on Fisher's level, but still decent.

how much do you think Fisher makes for his fights in terms of purse and then his % from ticket sales? It must be decent.
sorry to always be a bore with "what do they make" it just really interests me

But I think ticket sales wouldent make him loads when it’s all said and done because I’m sure he is flogging mainly cheap tickets, he throws in a shirt and his dad has to shift em and send em.
50 quid tickets would he even get half? Doubt it, Mabey 20 quid a ticket, throw in a shirt and your dad’s time there’s not a ton of meat on the bone(still dreamy for a normal area levle guy)…
But the tickets bring the hype and as such I assume his purses are very decent too. So In Terms of purses vs tickets I think they are too linked to really seperate, if Johnny wasn’t a valuable get out of jail for an empty arena ticket seller no one would know who he was and Ed would pay him penuts.

If he is getting 20 quid a ticket and shifts 2-3000 tickets, plus if they are making a fiver on a ticket, still looking at least 50k for a little fightSeanBrennan wrote: ↑31 May 2024, 16:11thank you Gregg, really appreciate you taking the time to share your insights and thoughts.gregregegg wrote: ↑31 May 2024, 16:08First I would like to say, I have no idea…SeanBrennan wrote: ↑31 May 2024, 14:45 how much do you think Fisher makes for his fights in terms of purse and then his % from ticket sales?
