Seems like Jennings is fighting again later this year.

He was a really lovely boxer to watch. Superb condition

Had a meteoric rise to the top and then retired.

Ultimately he was a tad small for the heavyweight division but he had some really good wins

I remember the most noteworthy thing at the start of his career (similar to Charles Martin) he was fighting very regularly. That is unusual in the modern game.

Is his comeback serious? He hasn't fought for about 6 years, I think

No matter how serious his comeback is, he won't get very far with it. He's older, and the division is even tougher than the one he earned a title shot in before.

I have to admit that I don't remember Jennings much for his achievements other than knocking out Dimitrenko.
I do remember however what a terrible fight his bout against Klitschko was, who seemed to have aged 100 years over night and couldn't pull his punches, only jabbing and clinching way too much against Jennings who didn't seem to have the tools to hurt Wladimir which says a lot.
After seeing every single fight of the Klitschkos ever since their early fights started airing in Germany in 96 this made me not watch the fight against Fury as I knew what was coming but that's another can of worms to open.
But when it comes to Jennings there's not much there really, He did fight on a high level, but lost 4 including all title fights. He's pushing 40 this year as well, I don't really see him to be back in it for anything other than some paychecks based on his reputation as a once, twice or 3 time title challenger if you want to count whatever the hell the WBA Gold and WBA interim title was supposed to be.
When he came in to be the last challenger Klitschko beat Wladimir had been cleaning out the division.
If he had more luck of the draw after some of the titles were vacant he could have been champ, because to be honest, Charles Martin holding the IBF title or some of the lacklustre WBA regular holders in recent years, that could have been anybody's game.
I don't expect much and I don't expect it to go anywhere either.

Totally agree that Klitschko showed vs Jennings the thing that ultimately impacts every aging fighter, seeing the openings but not pulling the trigger. And given even in his prime (circa 2006-2014) he wasn't Mr. Punch-A Lot, the result was really atrocious fights. People forget that outside of the 5th round Klitschko's punch output vs Joshua was anemic, and was how Joshua survived the 6th round (the fight was also pretty boring outside those two rounds).

Wlad vs Joshua was probably considered good by fans because compared to Fury vs Wlad it was downright amazing

That's the good thing about low expectations.
But seriously man, how exciting Wlad and Vitali were at the start of their careers. Seemingly invincible though a bit robotic destroying machines. Then injuries plague Vitali and Wladimir either gasses out or his dangerous, aggressive style gets him knocked out against punchers. Then Emmanuel Steward comes in and we got an 8 year reign of boring, dirty tactic, lacklustre performances until the shitshow that the Fury fight was put us out of that misery.
The heavyweights were always the division I was the most interested in but at the end of Wladimirs reign I was so done with it. I mean my account on here is 20 years old but it needed a masterclass like Usyk vs Fury to get me to post on here again.

Anyways. Jennings. Yeah, I couldn't care less.

He did go 12 rounds with Joe Joyce about 5 years ago, but I kinda got the vibe that Joe was getting 12 rounds in, rather than straight out demolishing Jennings

It's a terrible decision from Bryant, all the facts are in about brain shrinkage in your late 30's and the exponentially higher risks of premature dementia. Going back to being hit hard in the head is a foolhardy life choice. Better to be broke than broken.

True though. At the time Ortiz fought Jennings, Bryant was definitely proven second tier. So beating him made Ortiz a contender, unfortunately father time got him before he could get a title shot.
