this is him recently vs one of the top american am heavies

Yeah seen a bit of him here in Qld. Had a couple of pros. Apparently Justice beat him a few years ago in the vests. Goes good. Not sure if he can medal at Olympics. Depends on the draw.

Watching that , not seen him before , but i can see how Huni could/would beat him SPEED

huni beat him in the youths 8 years ago, teremoana improved massively since then. even justt over the last few years. and his stoppage rate is unusually high for the ams. hope he goes all in with the pros after the olympics

Yes he has improved since then but so has Huni. Don’t get me wrong I do like Teremoana but Huni has fought way better opposition in the vests and in the pros and I think he beats him again. But once he gets more experience who knows.

wasnt comparing them :TU:

i do worry that for his style huni is a bit underpowered for top level though, and last fight he was hurt several times. still, he's very fit and puts his punches together nicely

I think a lot of the old time fighters in Australia and New Zealand had the size and raw talent, but didn't have the proper training in the sport as it was being conducted in its hotbed, North America. Pat Doran was well over six feet, as was Alec Pooley, Ern Sheppard, Jim Dwyer, Jack O'Malley and others. They just weren't trained or handled properly. It didn't help they were starting out in 20 round contests of 2 minute duration. They would have been gassed in three minute rounds.

Yes, he was. At 45, having not fought in 8 yrs after being stopped by Bruno, Bugner decisioned the Aust Heavyweight champion - Vince Cervi. He moved there in the mid 80’s and was naturalised as an Australian.
Prime for prime, I’d he beats every single bloke on this list.
The likes of Tony Mundine, Bob Mirovic and Jimmy Thunder would take few out too

I was there when Joe won the Australian Heavyweight title against Vince Cervi. We set up the ring that they fought in. It was great to see how cagey and experienced Joe was although a fair bit past his best. Won convincingly against a much younger champion.

I remember watching his fights in Australia when he fought Bey, Page and Tillis on his comeback there and he was impressive! I also liked that the Australian promoters (was it Mordley?) was putting him against decent opposition and the local fans were happy to adopt him as 'Aussie Joe' got a top ten ranking out of those wins with the WBC.

There have been some decent Aussie heavyweights of late - I liked the look of Kali Meehan's son - he had some talent but he has gone off the rails? Shame if he has.

Yep, Willis Meehan.
Was a great talent in rugby league as well. At 29 he’s finding himself out of the ring and on the wrong side of the law for the best part of the last decade.
He’s been convicted of defrauding the government and last I heard he’d been charged with assaulting police and drug possession.

He’s 29 and hasn’t fought for 5-6 years.

Bob Fitzsimmons is claimed by Britain, but he grew up in New Zealand, learned to box in Sydney and fought in Australia and North America. He never boxed professionally in the UK.

We’ll only find out if he fights Dempsey McKean or Justice Huni. Not sure if he does knock them out yet. He looks pretty good so far but still early in his career.

I agree, with his jab, power, footwork, feints and accuracy he could be anything but after that last fight he should be arrested for elder abuse.
