Wooh can't see Mitchell beating Earl if he can repeat the form he showed against Romanov, massive step up. Thought Earl would be brought over as opposition for Khan in about a year.

I don't think there is any chance this fight will happen. Its WAY too soon for Mitchell and it will be Earl's first fight in the SN banner. I don't think FW will want either is rising star or the #1 Lightweight to have a defeat on their records quite yet.

If it does happen, I wonder if the WBU Lightweight title will be on the line, if yes - its a disgrace. Not saying the match is a disagrace, but its a disgrace how the WBU will sanction anything to suit Warren.

Agree, SN no longer have Hatton and need to nurture every potential hype job they have. And this means protecting Mitchell. Unless FWs decided he isnt worth protecting as he may not even be the best at 130.

If this did happen it would be a very good interesting scrap. Earl would be fave but not a certainty

Stu this would be one of the better WBU fights ever.

Oh yes, I agree, just think its a disgrace how its seems like the WBU can sanction a bout at the click of a fingers. I know the answers to these questions but it still pains me as to why

1) Every bill topping bout has to have a title on the line?

2) Why are the WBU so accomodating?

This is a good fight and could easily be a 12 rounder - I'm sure if Frank pressed the BBBoC - they would call this an eliminator for the British title. The WBU title DEGRADES it for me.

Without their fees they have virtually no revenue.

FW has proven to be a good customer over the years and as with any good customer, you accomodate them where ever you can.

Its said but true that it is all a revenue making exercise, nothing more.

Mitchell wins this one IMO,too fast too hungry, just a better all round boxer.He'll do to Earl what Burns did to Earl.Great fight though,and would be very interesting

Unbeaten super featherweight Kevin Mitchell (21-0) returns to action on Saturday 28th October at London's famous York Hall when he defends his IBF Intercontinental super featherweight title. Lightweight Graham Earl headlines the show when he challenges for the vacant WBU belt. The bill will also feature English welterweight champion Ross Minter in an eight rounder. Light heavyweight Tony Oakey and lightweight Dean Smith are also on the Sports Network card.

Same bill but not fighting each other.

You know I'd kind of just let it lie - accept it's just an SN promotional tool. But the thing that gets me is that the WBU's website proclaims that it uses computerized (so presumably objective) rankings.

Now I suppose the thing that saves them from libel is that (so far as I know) is that they don't actually force (or even go through the pretence) of making "champs" fight someone ranked in the, say, top 20. (otherwise, I sure would like to like to see the formula that gets Ben Odamattey and the likes a "title" shot.

It wouldn't rankle me, only there are people out there who take this title to be THE ONE or at least think this is Enzo,Mitchell,Hatton or whoever at "the top." Wtf is wrong with having a superb non-title fight? (although I agree fully with stu that a leap to Earl is a bit icredible given Mitchell's current competition.) Say the WBu title costs £5k. Say it equates to 150 tickets. If you have the fight non-title, are there really going to be 150 people who say "fornicate it Thelma. I was going down 'tut boxing the night but not now. 'Parrently Mitchell-Earl isn't fuh world 'itle."

Hardly surprising they will sanction anything for Sports Network, think how much money they made from all those Hatton defences.
