Roy Jones that was slipping, but still had enough to outscore Antonio Tarver in their 1st fight against current Dmitrii Bivol.
How do you expect it to go?

Re: Roy Jones Jr. (1st Tarver fight) vs Dmitry Bivol
Either Jones hardly outbox Bivol behind his jabs and combinations to take a decision convincingly or robbed him of a decision from Bivol or Bivol would get the better of the started fading Jones behind his quick jabs and combinations for vice versa decision.
Re: Roy Jones Jr. (1st Tarver fight) vs Dmitry Bivol
Jones would be the first to say that Bivol wins-he subscribes to the theory that each generation of fighters would beat the previous one. I saw an interview with him in which he said Kovalev would beat him cause he came after him.
Re: Roy Jones Jr. (1st Tarver fight) vs Dmitry Bivol
It might wind up looking quite similar to the 1st Tarver fight actually in terms of how close the scores wind up, but I think Jones could come through with the win as Bivol I don't think has the pop to hurt him any.

roy was still a really good fighter in the first fight, albeit not what he once was. to me he won that clearly and by several rounds. although i think bivol is better than tarver, i think tarver, as a bigger hitter, was more suited to giving roy those rocky moments he did have in a few rounds.
bivol vs roy would be more of a high speed tag match in which neither guy is shook up much. first fight id lean roy, who was still exceptionally quick and fairly accurate, but after that he faded considerably and bivol would get to him

That's interesting. I haven't heard that interview. But that's pretty fascinating, that Roy views things like that.

That's about how I see it, too.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 01:36 roy was still a really good fighter in the first fight, albeit not what he once was. to me he won that clearly and by several rounds. although i think bivol is better than tarver, i think tarver, as a bigger hitter, was more suited to giving roy those rocky moments he did have in a few rounds.

What's funny is that this thread was inspired after I saw a Roy vs Bivol fight simulation on YouTube
So if there are fans of Fight Night game over here - you can go and find this sim on Boxing Fight Simulations channel (no commercial). It was posted couple of days ago.

Holyfield and Mike Tyson share Jones' belief. As does Max Kellerman.
