Boxrec policy on IBA fights

Post by SportsRatings »

Boxrec should address this. There are a few IBA event fights in the records, like Petrovsky vs. Lucas Browne, but the majority aren't included. I'm not sure why that is, but Boxrec should let us know.

Petrovsky vs. Browne is listed as "professional bout" on the IBA website (along with 2 other fights), while others on the card are listed under "IBA Pro". This is the only IBA event that makes that distinction clear.

https://www.iba.sport/champions-night/dubai-2023/

So that means fights like Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov vs Eduardo Nunez on their February event (https://www.iba.sport/champions-night/i ... be-2024-2/) and Michael Hunter upset by Artem Suslenkov (https://www.iba.sport/champions-night/tashkent-2024/) aren't listed in Boxrec.

We've sort of been told that the decision on these fights is pending, but it's been months since some pretty important results. The WSOB fights were understood by the fighters to be "amateur" fights, in the sense they wouldn't count on their record, but what is the fighters' understanding of the IBA bouts? Should they be listed under the amateur section like WSOB fights?

I think they should be listed somewhere, it's not like they didn't happen. Keeping them in limbo is kinda weird.

ya, and there is a wba mandatory challenger deamination fight for the 130 title happening at a coming iba event too, olympic champ albert batygaziev vs jono carrol. some pretty important fights to not have on the records

i had no idea nikita ababiy lost on one of the iba cards until 6 months after it happened and someone mentinoned it here

if they arent recognized as regular pro bouts, what about an iba tab at least?

Is there something peculiar or different about the IBA fights?

I guess that’s the challenge of been a record keeping service… how do you determine a pro fight….

As mentioned above, even if we arnt calling it a pro fight, it should be in another tab.

Pro boxing, amature boxing, other boxing(iba, white collar, ect, anything boxing that isn’t recognised as amature or pro that can be found should be sling into other.)

Not sure. This still from their site draws a distinction between "Professional bouts" and "IBA pro"

And as far as I can tell, among all the IBA Champions Night events, the top three fights are the only fights listed in Boxrec (of course, the amateur fights in the IBA/AIBA World Championships are in the Boxrec amateur tab)
