I feel very sorry for Amir Khan. We was a decent but not elite boxer and the couple of times I've met him seemed a nice bloke but not savvy.
Someone should have told him to get a proper accountant and/or financial advisor.

I sort of feel a bit sorry for him IF HE'S BROKE , because , just like most kids like himself when other kids were learning there A,B .C's he was sat day dreaming on how to become a world champ , so its not suprising he's a bit dumb , then you take into account his familly background , he comes from a culture where its love , honor and obey your familly so it stands to reason his familly would of been a big part in a lot of his dicisions , and therefore a lot of bad advice , because i doubt there qualified to handle millions , , after all buid a 12 million pound wedding venue in facking BOLTON for gods sake .
Then he marrys a bimbo who will ultimatly probably bleed him dry before she pisses off with AJ , all in all i feel a bit sorry for the thick little bleeder .
Course if he's still got plenty , well then i don't feel sorry for him anymore , but if he's still got plenty and still ends up skint , he deserves it for being doubly thick

I think he was one, if not the, best value British boxer since Nigel Benn. He came to fight every time.
I'd say he was certainly an elite boxer, he just lost a few too; no shame there far as I concerned.
I really hope he has invested well enough to be financially comfortable for a long life. Like Naz - he appears to have good connections in Saudi/Dubai, so hopefully if he has mismanaged his fortune then they will be his financial safety net.

Re: Amir Khan news
So here we have a story of a boxer potentially facing financial problems and we have what to my mind are people posting quite distasteful comments about him - revelling in his misfortune, calling him thick, insulting his Mrs ….
I wonder what the motivation is for them to quite so obviously enjoy his troubles. Normally the default reaction on here is sympathy for any misfortune that befalls a boxer. Very odd.
There are many different kinds of intelligence, those calling Amir thick might not be aware of this. I’d suggest that a guy who’s enjoyed such a successful life as he has must be possessed of many admirable personal qualities that have contributed to his success.
I wish him well

Regards being a bit thick , well lets just say and agree he's not thick , he may however be one big dumb mother fornicator ,then , hows that or does that upset you has well ,
After all you don't see many many real smart people , running people over on pedestrian crossings , then the following 2-3 years on the trot , having accidents in high powered cars , going off the road , then taking pics of the damage to put on instagram ,
, How many real smart people , get talked into opening a big white elephant , 11 million pound wedding centre in BOLTON , without doing feasability studies and getting well known reputable architecs and builders involved ,
How many real smart high profile people go on Skype to have a wank , want me to go on .
Perhaps i should just say he lacks intelligence , but personally i'm a bit thick myself , and knowing i'll probably stuff up the spelling , i'll just say he's thick has a brick , seems like a nice guy , but heh , thick has pig shit

Like you say Amir always seemed like a nice enough lad. Just ruined by early and sudden fame, bad advice, and not the greatest brain of his own to fall back on. If I seemed unsympathetic it was unintentional, I always really liked Khan and cheered him on madly in his wins. Especially Maidana where he showed so much heart

First up, his actions regarding the pedestrian crossing incident were appalling and I wouldn’t have shed any tears for him had he gone to jail for that which he should’ve done.coneye wrote: ↑05 Jun 2024, 18:26 Well first of all , he does seem now like a very nice person , i myself hope he's not broke and lives a prosperous life , there are differnt kinds of intellegence , and the ones he pocesses are , fast hands , fast feet , BIG HEART and boxing skills many of us would love even half off .

I’m not here trying to pretend he’s the sharpest tool in the shed I’m just asking why we don’t seem to have a level playing field here. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see many current / recently retired fighters getting the abuse on here that Khan does.
And tbf If we were to make a list of wealthy ex boxers who had never been burned by making foolhardy investments in dubious business ventures it would be a very very short list.

Re: Amir Khan news
it makes sense khan gets more comments than most, he's one of the most famous boxers in the country and his stuff gets covered more, hence a greater number of people see it and react. he doesnt seem particularly interested in living a quiet privvate life either and constantly puts himself out in the public, like through having a reality show on his family life
the downside of fame and fortune is you have more money to lose and people will know about it (and your other sh!t). that sucks because we're all human and will all fornicate something up eventually. some people never really embrace the publicity, but khan clearly has

Fair comment Maggie and I’d agree with you if we were talking about him getting criticism from Joe Public who get their Khan news from the mainstream media and may well have watched every episode of Meet the Khans. Whereas I think if Ruthie ran a poll asking whether us lot watched Meet the Khans or not I reckon only a fairly small percentage would’ve seen it
Boxrec forumiites generally speaking are hardcore fans who know snippets of information about the private lives of many top boxers whether it’s from IFL style coverage or podcasts or other forums or inside knowledge from gyms etc.
To use Khan’s great rival Kell Brook as an example, he’s done some monumentally daft things in his private life but he only seems to get a fraction of the criticism that Khan does.

Cus Khan is more mainstream isn't he?
Most of Brook's stupid things gets posted on only a couple of sites and that too mostly boxing news websites..
Whereas Khan gets plastered all over different mainstream news sites.

Khan has been on several TV shows like "I'm A Celebrity", "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", "Countdown" and others so very well known to non-boxing fans, his wife has a big social media presence too. He seems a nice enough bloke, you often see on any Go Fund Me pages from people in the boxing world he is often one of the biggest contributors. Maybe not the brightest bloke but plenty of so called intelligent people in government etc have got themselves involved in pretty stupid things.

Companies house tells a story of failed business ventures / liquidation / directorship resignations and the business he owns now is owned by creditors and has no revenue on its last filing .
He may have cash in Dubai or wherever else but in the UK he is worth diddly til that ugly wedding place turns in huge profits.

A wedding a week or even two.. During the holidays, they get booked up during the midweek, which can be slightly cheaper. Some halls get hired for a afternoon wedding, then another wedding that same evening.
I guy from work, paid £5k on a wedding hall, they usually have loads of guests, so food, cake, stage set up all included. and that was 10 years ago.. So imagine now. I think he had 300 guests,

Its all relative I guess a skint khan is still well off compared to most ordinary folks in the UK .
