THE SUPER SIX: THE VOTE *closed*

Post by Crease »

I had planned to originally do a poll, but I think that for the interest of transparency, let's have all the votes out in the open.
Just a few quick notes:

1. Managers CAN vote for their own fighters.
2. CPU fighters can be voted for, if that is your preference.
3. All votes are final, I will endeavour to keep this thread updated a few times a day, to keep it rolling but im not chopping and changing halfway through.
4. Ezzard Charles is not included in the voting list, he earned the golden ticket when he became The Millionaire Champion.

It appears that most of the planet has made it thus far unanimous, according to the unofficial count! The love is pouring in for Max! Sure a few states had to alter a few of the policies and procedures...but I"m sure everyone will agree that it's all fair, square and above board!! We want to thank Kim Jung Un for his assistance in guaranteeing that the count thus far is accurate! Apparently, there are an extra 2.5 billion fine folks on the planet that no one knew even existed!

We vote: (And we are traditionalists - being at the top of the tree with belts does weight heavily in our estimation)

The former WBC Champ, Archie Moore.
The former WBA Champ, Harry Greb.
2-time WBO Champ, Sam Langford.
Current Unified Champion, Gene Tunney.
The former 3-time WBO Champ, Tommy Loughran.

Seeing that Charles is in, here's my 5:

Tommy Loughran (3X IBF champ, 1 X WBA champ)
Archie Moore (#1 points fighter in the Sim)
Harry Greb (#3 points fighter, highly avoided man)
Sam Langford (Shuffleshits is proud! Great season turn around)
Gene Tunney (Current IBF/WBA champ, solid turn around season)

At least to me, it seems clear cut these are the top 5 for the season. Maxie/Spinks/Johnson are just on the outside.

My 5 are:
Moore - #1 rated fighter. Great wins over Charles almost as avoided as Greb, especially recently.
Greb - my fighter, arguably the most avoided man in the sim. Out of his 4 losses, 1 was an MD against Charles, 2 more losses on cuts and one bad performance during the MDT.
Langford - started terribly, came on after winning the IBO title, collected the WBO title and the lineal title twice on his way to the MDT final.
Rosenbloom - a quiet achiever this season with some good wins and a MDT run that took him to the semi’s.
Tunney - much like Langford, turned his season around after a poor start. Knocked out of the MDT by Langford but unfortunately he avenged that loss after the MDT and then went on to beat a good champ in Loughran.

Did you not vote for your own top guy? Don't tell Ezz ...he might get his feelers hurt. And tell him to fight Rosenbloom next week.

Ezz is the Million Dollar Champion, and therefore automatically in the Super Six. He don't need my vote.

I would go with....

Tommy Loughran - A real dangerman and though he has been unlucky, multiple World Champion, plus he keeps giving Gene hell.

Harry Greb - Highest KO's in the season and walked over most fighters (him and Gene not meeting would be a shame, historical recreation and all that).

Archie Moore - Fantastic season and the No1 ranked.

Gene Tunney - Slow start and though he lost a few, bar the 1st fight of the season, always on a MD or SD, 2 x IBF Champ and current IBF & WBA Champ with some solid wins, of late.

Langford has produced some great results and beat some fine opponents, too and on his day, can light up anyone.

Could have changed it up and really gone in a different direction, I suppose, with Johnson in for Loughran, Maxie in for Tunney and Fitz in for Langford, as they all done well but, they all, probably, just fell short of the mark.....just.

Was harder than I thought as I felt, Mr Johnson has done so well, 2 x WBA Champ, defended it quite a few times, beat a few good fighters from the player roster and, as a 2nd tier pick, surprised a few.

Maxie, never held a major belt but has been a bit unfortunate with that. Always ranked high, throughout the season and beat plenty of the other managers fighters, maybe just misses out as he never took on and beat any of the top, top tier?

Fitz, much like Johnson, has done really well and next to Greb, was a complete banger who could KO anyone. won the WBA title, too and had some good wins. Probably, falls just short.

Spinks, blistering start to the season, started to fade a bit during the middle and was a bit up and down towards the end. Former titlist with several defences but maybe just a little too inconsistent, overall.

Honourable mentions to JHL, Gibbons and Foster, all despite suffering set backs, always came back well, particularly Foster after his horrendous start.

Three votes left and all of the fighters on zero pts cannot qualify, the top four in The Vote are through
Fitz is still able to catch Tunney if he gets +3 and Tunney doesn't get anymore pts.

Gents, we have our Super Six competitors... Congratulations to the five combatants in red, well deserved...
Indeed - being selected as the cream of the crop is an achievement in itself...
But the truly hard work starts here, there's no handy draws anymore, you will have to face EVERYONE! - such is the true beauty of The Super Six.

It is inconsequential at this point, but both our Sim brothers are entitled to make their vote up until Tuesday :TU:

Glad to see Loughran made it. The redemption tour to revenge our last season together continues! A few guys I missed fighting during the season, glad to have a shot at them now. Fighting 3 straight guys ranked in the top 8 for points for the season really paid off at the end.

Uh....Rosenbloom did not receive 10 billion votes....nor did he receive just one. This is fake news. But media being what it is it's no surprise that the report is inaccurate...we must always search for ourselves to discover what is real. I think he received at least two legit votes. But what's a single fact lost in such a busy news cycle? Carry on!

Not so.....he held four titles simultaneously... Lineal, WBO, WBC, IBO.....during the MDT.
