Man, they keep pushing the hype with this guy, who got reality checked by Pit Bull Cruz.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
He's one of the biggest stars in the sport right now easy. Doesn't change the fact that he's avoided most big name competition throughout his career, but Frank Martin is a legitimately solid opponent, and arguably the best he's faced.apollo creed wrote: ↑13 Jun 2024, 05:40 Man, they keep pushing the hype with this guy, who got reality checked by Pit Bull Cruz.
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
It looks like crap matchup to me by the looks of this poll of some pretty bright boxing minds.
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
Frank Martin gets no respect, and if he pulls off the upset a significant percentage of boxing fans will denigrate his win by belittling Tank for the loss, including about half of those voting for a Tank KO.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
frank martin has never really been promoted much for a fighter of his level. been an undercarder much of his career, and not on mega cards either. the cards he did top were lower profile ones. he doesnt really make much noise or have a charismatic standout personality. even his name is bland as hell too lol. a lot of ppl, even serious fans, just never really seen or heard much of him until his name started going around for this fight.
but he is a legit contender and deserving of a shot. very fit guy who is all around solid in most areas. totally blanking a roided michael rivera was really good stuff, and he's been impressive nearly every fight ive seen of his. only really been pushed once, and he closed that fight out by coming on strong and scoring a final round kd. dropped and beat vergil ortiz to win the national golden gloves too
i suspect most of the ppl complaining about this being a soft match dont know much about frank

Yeah I looked at some of Frank's most recent performances coming into this fight, and he's definitely not an easy opponent by any means. Very sharp defense. He's probably a little faster than Tank, although that's close. It's an interesting fight for sure. If Frank winds up having a very good chin, and can take Tank's shot, Tank is gonna have a very hard time with this guy.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Jun 2024, 01:33 frank martin has never really been promoted much for a fighter of his level. been an undercarder much of his career, and not on mega cards either. the cards he did top were lower profile ones. he doesnt really make much noise or have a charismatic standout personality. even his name is bland as hell too lol. a lot of ppl, even serious fans, just never really seen or heard much of him until his name started going around for this fight.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
Tank's best win is a crippled-drained Garcia, for sure. Pit Bull Cruz is his daddy. He is super-hyped but he didn't beat no prime Loma, no prime Haney, Lopez, Shakur. He's on that Wilder's regime until he lands a big cash in fight. Martin is another stiff for Tank.
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
Your comparison to Wilder is pitiful, reeking trash talk. Tank has been carefully managed but he has fought plenty of serious contenders. His win over Ryan Garcia was legit, unlike Garcia’s win over Haney.apollo creed wrote: ↑14 Jun 2024, 03:35 Tank's best win is a crippled-drained Garcia, for sure. Pit Bull Cruz is his daddy. While tank has not fought the elite, he has been fighting legit contenders and belt holders for years. Your denigration of all of those boxers as “stiffs” is pathetic troll talk.
Frank Martin is no stiff. He has earned this opportunity and he is a legit, hard working, skilled and gifted pro who has a decent shot at a major upset.

Nope. I don't know why you try defend so hard fighters like Davis and Martin. Loma, Haney and Lopez are the ones to be praised. People love the hype.

did loma beat a prime haney, lopez, or shakur?
did shakur beat a prime loma, haney, or lopez?
didnt haney get his sh!t pushed in by the guy tank ko'd without much trouble?
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin | PBC PPV - June 15, 2024
Both of them look in good shape, Martin has a slight weight advantage.
I bet the promoters almost had a heart attack when Gervonta did the back flip

lol The fighters that I've mentioned fought each other and they were willing to test themselves, meanwhile tank was pampered by his handlers until they screwed it by putting him against pit bull cruz.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Jun 2024, 11:32apollo creed wrote: ↑14 Jun 2024, 03:35 Tank's best win is a crippled-drained Garcia, for sure. Shorty Cruz was physically disadvantaged vs Tank , but man he fought like a real pit bull. He deserved a rematch. Style wise they were very good matched.

Does anyone else think that one fight per year is not good for his legacy?

What a broken record you are. Tank defeated Cruz. Get over it.apollo creed wrote: ↑15 Jun 2024, 08:51What legacy? Beating cherrypicked-much smaller, washed up or severely drained opponents?
Martin, Cruz, Barrios, Santa Cruz, Rolando Romero, and Krusty The Clown Garcia are not “stiffs.” Gamboa was MUCH less a “stiff” when Tank defeated him in 2019 than when your heartthrob Cruz beat him in 2022 (after being defeated by Tank). Tank took Romero’s 0 two years prior to Cruz defeating him. Cruz seems to be the one on The Sloppy Seconds Tour.
Skippy Screed, you are.

I was going to pay for the PPV tonight, but just checked the price . . .JFC $75??? Not long ago a card like this would've been $40 tops. Just insane.
