RIP Steffen Tangstad

Former two time European heavyweight champion and challenger to Michael Spinks' IBF title has dies at 65. Tangstad, who had been suffering from numerous health problems in later years, passed away peacefully according to his family.

Very sad news. I once met Steffen at a boxing show in Berlin in 2003 and he was very approachable. I buttered him up by saying he had licked Buster Douglas. "Drew," he said, which he did, a nice, honest man who could fight a bit.

Michael Spinks had said that it was one of his more tougher fights.

Tangstad's best result was drawing with future World Heavyweight Champion James "Buster" Douglas and beating Joe Bugner. Anyways, RIP Champ :verysad: :salut:

The biggest names on his resyme were Douglas, Bugner and Spinks, but his best fight was his Euro title win against Lucien Rodriguez. He looked good that night.
Tangstad was a good fighter and by all accounts a good and decent man.
