Akinwande 43?

A book calles 'Who's who at the Olympics' has a D.O.B. for Henry of October 12 1962, with a note that British records say October 12 1965. Does anyone know which is correct?

I imagine the earlier date, there was always talk that he was older than his actual stated age.

I know he it was claimed he was the same age as Lewis when they fought, which would mean the later.... but who knows. Boxing well for a 41 or 43 year old anyway.

Interesting. Never heard anything of that before. I could see why they would shave off a few years when he turned pro so that it didnt seem so 'late'.

Never knew he made that comment in the build up to the LL fight. That is pretty much confirming his 'official' DOB was untrue.

I was amazed at how quickly he aged as soon as Oliver McCall started landing with some heavy leather. Before that he was boxing a masterclass.

Whatever age, boxing very well, although like the early McCall rds, he's not receiving any resistance with his current soft-touch opponents.

Does anyone know what Akinwandes big plan is? Is he only a semi-serious pro now? Is he just riding out the years with some nice paydays for the German crowd, or does he actually harbour any ambition of fighting for the world title? The WBC rank him #11 so he is eligible.

Akinwande fights Oleg Platov next up.
Platov is heavy handed, but not the quickest heavy, so will be an interesting match up, if Henry can keep Platov at a distance he should win, but Platov is a hungry fighter and Akinwande stands in the way of getting ranked by WBC.

Really looking forward to the Platov fight.... was very impressed with the way Platov handled Colin Kenna (the rounds we saw).... Kenna is better than his record suggests.
