Kenshiro Teraji vs Cristofer Rosales in the works for vacant flyweight title
Top contender Francisco Rodriguez Jr will fight in what’s functionally a final eliminator
WBC head honcho Mauricio Sulaiman tells Salvador Rodriguez that former unified light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji will face Cristofer Rosales for the vacant flyweight title formerly held by Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez.
Francisco “Chuhuas” Rodriguez Jr, the no. 1 contender, will fight for the Silver title to prove he can make 112 for the first time since 2016.
In terms of entertainment value, this was the best possible outcome. Teraji (23-1, 14 KO) is one of the best and most consistent action fighters in the sport, possessed of both blistering offense and a general disregard for his own well-being. Rosales (37-6, 22 KO) is a willing dance partner, a heavy hitter with plenty of high-level experience whose only stoppage loss came to a dialed-in Julio Cesar Martinez in 2019.
Hoping to see this one on a Japanese megashow later this year.

Kenshiro Teraji vs Cristofer Rosales vacant title fight reportedly set for October 18th in Japan
Kenshiro Teraji will be making his flyweight debut
ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez brings word that former unified light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji’s vacant WBC flyweight title bout with Cristofer Rosales will land on October 18th in Teraji’s native Japan.
No word yet as to the specific locale.
Teraji (23-1, 14 KO) claimed his first world title just 10 fights into his pro career by toppling Ganigan Lopez, then went on to make eight successful defenses before dropping a shocker to Masamichi Yabuki. Undaunted, he swiftly dispatched Yabuki in the rematch, took out Hiroto Kyoguchi to win the WBC belt, then racked up another three defenses.
He’s both one of the top talents in the game and among its most exciting, an overwhelming offensive force with serious defensive liabilities that make every one of his fights thrillers. He’ll need to be on point against Nicaragua’s Rosales (37-6, 22 KO), a durable and heavy-handed veteran with tons of experience against top opponents. I’m very much looking forward to this one; we’ll let you know as soon as Top Rank and co. officially announce it.

Apparently, it's October 13, not 18th.

Teraji didn't look great last time out. Stepping up in weight should help him. Rosales really only has one good win, so Teraji should win, but I'm not 100% certain. Anyone else interested?

This bill is live on Sky Sports right now if any of you share my fetish for small Japanese men.

Rosales hurt Teraji in the fourth. Open scoring with the WBC for this one. All judges have Teraji up after four.

Absolute barnburner. Tsutsumi has done more than enough for me, hope the judges do the right thing by him
